Engineers were able to reduce the weight of a 2013 Fusion by more than 25 percent, slashing approximately 900 lbs from the overall build. For comparison, the lightweight concept weighs the same as a production Fiesta hatchback.
Some of the materials utilized in the concept, such as carbon fiber, are still generally considered expensive for mass-market vehicles, however the same had been said of aluminum before Ford committed to embracing the light metal for the new F-150.

That is really awesome. I can't wait for some of this tech to get to a reasonable price and start appearing on normal street cars.

Guess the weight this car lost, the 2015 Stang found?
More power will make a car go faster in a straight line, less weight will make a car go faster everywhere.
