Makes sense, if in 16 years Ford hasn't figured out how to make Jag turn a profit, odds are Ford will never figure out how to get Jag to turn a profit.

Jaguar was a albatross for Ford from day one. Ford had to totally retool Jags manufacturing facility! When Ford purchased Jag they had test cars sent to Detroit. The tolerances were so bad they didn't even meet Taurus tolerance specks!

Don't forget the bizarre UK union work rules and the horrible electrics / electronics Jags had before Ford took over. In the 1980s Jags were so unreliable several conversion shops did big business installing Chevy V8s and GM electronics in those pre-Ford Jags.

I'm a Jag. fan, but Jag's products over the past few years have been hoplessly out of date. The only competitive product Jag has is the XJ-8 and it's suffering in the market because of its bland, dated styling. Anyone's who's driven a X-Type and compared it to something like the new G35 or even the present BMW 3 series will have a good idea of how hopeless Jag is.

The only way Ford could have made Jag profitable would have been to completely shut down Jag manufacturing in the UK and build Jags somewhere else.

you'd think they'd wait at least one more year, what with the XF on its way. They don't even wanna give it a chance apparently. And what about these V8's we're hearing about??
I don't like change, apparently.

Maybe this will make Ford focus more on their other brands. I don't mind the fact that they are cutting back a bit. I just wish they wouldn't offer so many dang models of Ford brand products.

I do wish they would've kept Aston...just because it's...Aston!

They do still have a small percentage in Aston, just not controlling interest.
