Ford says Mercury brand important part of line-up

Article here

Mercury brand is an important part of the U.S. automaker's line-up and the company is continuing to invest in the nameplate, Mark Fields, Ford's president of the Americas, said on Monday.

I find that very hard to believe since Ford hasn't mentioned any new vehicles for Mercury and we haven't saw any concept from Mercury in a really long time.

Ford denied at times that Aston Martin, Jaguar and Land Rover were for sale.
In 2008 the Mustang may outsell the entire Mercury brand
Unless Ford comes up with some new Mercury models soon, the brand is dead.

This dog is dead already. RIP Mercury.

Maybe with the money saved jettisoning Mercury, we can finally get some Eurogasmic Fords over here. 2012 Mondeo 'coupe' anybody?

Yeah, why should anyone believe Mark Fields, after all he's just the President of Ford of the Americas.

It's not like he has a blog on the internet that is totally not affiliated with Ford that spreads unofficial auto industry rumors or anything as trustworthy as that.

The nerve of that Fields guy doing interviews with the press! It's as if he thinks he actually speaks for Ford or knows what going on in that company!

We all know the internet blogs and unsubstantiated rumors are the official voice of Ford Motor Company!!! And the internet is NEVAR WRONG. Oh. Wait...

Because as I pointed out above, Ford execs have a nasty history of lying about things.
