Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Sales Up 35 Percent

http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2012/04...5-percent.html

It's not just the mainstream pickup trucks that are selling well so far this year. Even specialty vehicles like Ford's F-150 SVT Raptor are feeling the love.
Through March, sales of the 2012 Raptor are up 35 percent compared with the first three months of 2011. That puts the Raptor on a blazing pace to sell close to 15,000 units by the end of this year, far ahead of any of the early projections that even the most optimistic Raptor fans had when the vehicle was introduced.
The Dearborn Truck Plant is producing about three Raptors per hour on the assembly line, mixed in with the rest of the other F-150 models, and that production number has already been bumped up once in the past year to meet demand. We've heard no word as to whether Ford may try to boost output to four units per hour.

It's good to see this truck doing well. I wonder if GM or Dodge is gonna try and make a truck to compete with it?

There is a Mopar Ram Runner, but its still the aftermarket truck, not the official Ram Truck.

Yup. I would like to see more competition out there. There's no incentive for ford to improve on the impressive already Raptor. Competition will get SVT to step it up even higher. Would love to see a blower strapped to the raptor in the future.

That's great!

I want a Raptor soo bad.. but at this point I'd have to get rid of the GT and sell a kidney just to get one!

Chevy (or is it GMC?) keeps claiming they'll put out a competitor when their mainstream truck gets its next big update. Which means it will be heavier and slower than Raptor, but the car mags will gush all over it and ignore how late to the game it is.

Best part of the Raptor sales? The EcoBoost V6 still hasn't been introduced for it. That's a guaranteed bump still safely tucked up Alan's sleeve.

I'm surprised by these sales numbers. I'd rather have my Super Duty even though this is really cool. I figured it was just a short run fad though. Maybe I thought wrong.

We begged them to make it once we knew they were working on the concept mules. We told them if you build it we will buy it. And we did!
