Ford Edge

Here's an article with a slightly blown up image:

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../512080371/1148
and a little write up from ford:
http://media.ford.com/newsroom/release_dis...m?release=22151
Looks like a pretty nice design... i wouldn't say its THAT bold though. Gotta see it in person i guess.

I'd like to see more pics but it looks nice. It might be an option when the RCO is up on my Escape if I'm still in need of an SUV. Otherwise, I might look at a Fusion or a new SportTrac with the V8,
Of course, I could always buy a new Mustang....

i havent been following the whole edge thing too much.....and i never really kept up on as to why they stop producing the freestyle, my guess was sales. but i was just wondering, what makes ford think this will sell more edges than the freestyle? isnt it being aimed at the same market.

It's pretty obvious been following this too much since they haven't stopped producing Freestyles. :nono:

yeh...i thought i heard they were goin to end production early....guess i was wrong. still, why would they produce two crossovers. just seems like they dont have any confidence in the freestyle is all.

ya, the edge is based on the same platform as the fusion, while the freestyle on the 500 platform.
I've heard they might make the mercury version of the freestyle and then cut out the ford version, making it a mercury only car. I dunno, looking at the sales numbers, it seems like the freestyle is doing pretty good, its catching a lot of people who wanna get rid of their oversized explorers and expeditions, keeping them in the ford family. But i guess its not doing quite as well as they hoped.

I'm going to be curious about the Edge...as I've been eyeing the Freestyle for the family. They (Freestyle) can't be too bad, I don't see them on Used car lots.

Ford has clearly borrowed from their heritage with this multi-bar front; namely the 1948 F1 pickup. Note the similarities:

I love the new front end look. Anyone recognize it?
