Hope it's a more serious face-lift than the last few.

Sounds like this is a serious redesign-maybe the ol' Panther will finally be put to rest! And maybe a resurrected Town Car (or MKT?) will come along with it!

Thank you Ford! All I keep hearing at work is that we are getting V-6 Chargers when Ford stops making the Crown Vic.

It is suppose to get the Mustang GT motor--hopefully with at least 300 HP.

The article says it'll remain on the Panther platform. I don't think it's "supposed" to get any engine just yet. That's obviously an attractive option for car nuts like ourselves, but at this point, i got the impression from that article that the Fleet managers are in talks with the Police Advisory Board to figure out exactly how much power the cops really need and how much cost they can handle and finding the ideal cost to performance balance. My bet is they'll find that the cops don't really need anything more than 300hp, at least for around the city. My guess is this thing'll end up getting the 3V V8 putting out around 280 or 290 hp... like the V8 explorer.

I'd like to reiterate my beliefs that a hybrid Crown Vic would be ideal for the cops. Think of how much time urban cop cars spend idling or sitting in slow traffic. And we've definitely seen enough examples to know that electric motors can move cars real fast.

But oh yeah....
This f-in rules!!! I grew up riding in the back of panther station wagons, so happy to see this car is gonna live on... can't wait to tell my dad. i'd say i'm even happier about this than if it were to switch to a Falcon based car.

maybe we'll also get some performance options, for those of us who like big, beefy fast american sedans. give DC and their 300C/cahrger/magnum lineup something to compete with.

something to the tune of the maurauder or something. perhaps even a 5.4 this time hehehe
