Sorry, but for those of us who remember seeing the original Maverick running around on the roads, I gotta say...

The old Maverick was NOTHING like this car. If you're gonna go with a storied name, then Fiesta, Festiva or Escort would be the ones to pick - since they fit the size and personality of this car. Otherwise, come up with something new.

The Euro Mav is an Escape, the old Aussie/Euro Mav was based on a Nissan, and the new Fairlane's gonna be a crossover. I think the Maverick name has enough pliability to fit a small, fun to drive car.
