Ford car sales doing well

It seems Ford car sales are going well this year in spite of declining sales of older models like the Taurus, Crown Vic, and Focus. Overall, Ford's car sales are up nearly 11% compared to the industry average of 3.4%. Ford's car share is up to 9.5% compared to 8.9% last year. This increase is being carried strictly by all the new models like the 500, Mustang, and Fusion. Here's the article:

Mark, I must ask you. Have you ever thought of working for Ford? I think you will be a valuable asset to the company. Plus you could be part of the inner circle and drive any Mustangs you want to.

Seems Ford has the potential to keep up with the launch of their new products just as SUV sales are dropping.
The new crossovers should do well, in addition to the restyled and powered up 500

Yes, it is. They've got a long way to go turn it around but it looks to be heading in the right direction. I just hope they can keep the momentum up.

ya, that's pretty good... I think the fusion will sell obviously at least as many as the 500, maybe more like twice as many as the 500, so it looks like maybe those two will indeed do a good job of replacing the taurus sales wise. The two combined should sell well more than the 200,000 or so the taurus was selling in 2004.
I dunno, i'm not too familiar with these kinds of numbers, does it seem reasonable that the fusion would sell upwards of 150,000 over the next year? How many 300s get sold a year? like 150 or so? I'd say the fusion could sell close to as many as that one. Its got good looks that stand out, without being as polarizing as that one. I don't think you'll find as many people calling the fusion ugly as you did the 300. I know a lot of people just don't get the appeal of the 300.
I'm just worried, cause we see good numbers for this year. but the taurus is still accounting for 170000. Will the fusion really make up for that? I hope the numbers next year continue to improve. AND HURRY UP WITH THAT REFRESH OF THE 500! Though 90,000 is better than i expected i must say. I looked it up, the 300 is 120,000 CYTD.

This is also interesting. Of course you never read this here because they only tell us what they want us to hear.
From Xinhua in Beijing:
Just goes to show that these corporations that are simply focusing on the now are setting themselves up for a fall which will undoubtedly happen for Toyota and VW (again) as it already has started for GM.
And from the Japan Times:
They also don't tell you how the Camry, Avalon, and Tacoma have now all lost their positions in the JD Power IQS top three and how the Ranger and Five Hundred have moved into those spots, not to mention captured numerous awards on the Safety field.
Nor do they make a big deal on how the Honda Civic has already had a safety issue in just a little more than a month on the market. Although I must hand it to them for correcting the issue promptly.
Mark, you and I have said that times will change. Well, it seems like times are a-changing
Volkswagon had this whole thing happen to them in the 90's. It took a while but people started to see through the veil and it really hurt them.
From Xinhua in Beijing:
Global automakers such as Volkswagen, General Motors Corp. and Toyota Motor Corp. are spending some US$15 billion to triple annual capacity to more than 7 million cars by 2008, which has sparked fears of an impending glut.
And from the Japan Times:
Toyota's sales -- excluding subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co. and Hino Motors Ltd. -- have been lagging since July.

Andy, stop hatin' on Toyota. Not only did Toyota sold more cars than Ford, but Chevrolet beat them too. And if you really wanna use J.D. Power and Associates for example, then you probably know that Lexus is rated #1 for 11th year in the row and Toyota is rated better than Ford.
