Some HIGHLIGHTS:

I will say that I am impressed with Ford's progress in the engine department. I purchased a 2010 Escape with the 2.5L and Auto. Though the automotive press thinks it is noisy at higher rpm, i think it sounds fine and am impressed with the power to fuel efficiency ratio. I would have loved to wait for the new Kuga/Escape, but my 05 Mustang had been dying a long, slow horrible death since I bought it.
But switching to an aluminum block. Unlike the 2v and 3v 4.6 motors, the GT500 has never suffered from a lack of power or torque, just a weight problem. The AL block solves that nicely and I suspect that by doing so it allowed more money to be spent on the coyote engine program (or not).
And who knows, maybe it won't just be an aluminum block? Ford may also upgrade the engine by replacing the standard blower with a TVS unit.
