According to Ford insiders, the American giant has given prospective buyers until July 19 to submit bids for Jaguar and Land Rover.

There've been alot of reports that the bidders are really low-balling the Jag/LR package, down in the $1billion range. That's pretty patheitcally low, and I wonder if it's too low. I would expect this sale to not happen if Ford doesn't feel they're getting adequate value.

Agreed, I also wonder if Ford isn't pitting LR/Jaguar and Volvo against each other to ascertain which one they can obtain a great long term value by selling. Volvo will bring more money up front to be sure, but Jaguar/LR arguably have more long term potential and represent some serious red ink at the moment which translates into money recouped as well.
