Geez. I mostly read a lot of fancy techno city crap features that many contractors and ranchers and farmers and outdoorsman could care less about. But sure as hell will be built into the cost. Is that all "new and improved" means these days is fancy techie bull****?? Just because "they can"? Gimmie a break. 
How about a tough *** F150 4x that we have depended upon for decades with significantly better mileage?

This sounds pretty tough . . .
High-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloys – already used in aerospace, commercial transportation, energy and many other rugged industries – are used throughout the F-150 body for the first time, improving dent and ding resistance and also saving weight.
I dig it, and will be looking at one to purchase in the next year or two.

Got a chance to see it at the press preview yesterday. It's a GREAT looking truck. I truly think GM and Ram have a lot of catching up to do. Dare I say it, it's probably the best looking truck I've seen in recent years.

Aftermarket can change that. But then again the tundra while having a japanese logo is made right in USA so if it looks like a tundra i can handle that. I do see olenty of the Atlas concept in the design and still hope that Atlas may show as a top trim level. Like the range rover of truck words. Big, brash, luxurious, plenty get-up-and-go, and serious off road capabilities. Of course not too serious to compete with the next gen Raptor (which im really curious to its looks)

I think what he was getting at is automakers these days are flaunting the technology in vehicles. In this case, the F150 should be flaunted for being a rugged, reliable work truck that can tow a house (exaggerating of course). Not some techy MFT enhanced truck with a bunch of LED's for power savings.
I could be wrong, though. But thats what I took from it.
But I say Ford should flaunt both aspects I just described. As they're both vital to the continued success of the F150.

No I wasn't questioning the toughness of the '15...
Look, all my truck buddies over the years - even back to the 80's - have asked "why don't they put an overdrive in a pickup so we can get some better mileage?"
So while truck manufacturers have improved mileage slowly over the years with more efficient engines and better transmissions, they have also been investing engineering dollars in more creature comforts and now more techie comforts. Fine.
But... where's my 30+mpg highway?????
I'm sure I represent a large demo of non-urbanite truck owners. I need a 4X truck I can load a cord of firewood, or a ton of hay, or tow a boat or camper, or drive through the woods on rough roads, or plow snow, or haul irrigation pipe out to the fields, or carry dirt bikes/ohv's/snowmobiles, or bring home a load of lumber, and.....
be able to get good mileage on the highway or freeway (30+!!) - because most of the time I'm commuting/driving empty.
A tough F150 4X with great mileage should be the first order of business for Ford engineers - for several decades now. Hell even the Ranger mileage sucked.
And where's my manny tranny option??

There two types of truck buyers
Those that use them for work and those that use them as family cars
At least here in Texas that's the case
Ford will always have a very base trim level available for work trucks. They're not stupid.
We usually buy the XL trim for out trucks.
Basically AC and Radio and vinyl floor.
