2014 or 2015 f150

So I ve been wanting a truck for a while now but I love my mustang too much and cant bring myself to get rid of it. Well just recently my wife agreed to allow me to trade in her suv for one 😃. I really like the current f150 but am really interested in the new 2.7 ecoboost engine in the 2015. Although I am very reluctant to buy a first year model vehicle especially with a new engine option. So idk if i should wait a bit for a 2015 2.7 ecoboost or jump on the big rebates on the current f150. Also if I go for a 2014, is there a significant difference in gas mileage between the 5.0 and 3.5 ecoboost???

It all depends on how you drive, I have gotten 20mpg on the highway and 16 in the city in my 13' 5.0
Gas mileage can be worst in the ecoboost engines if you have a heavier foot.
Can't speak for the new 2.7 but I would recommend you test drove a f150 with the 2.7 ecoboost. I did when I bought my truck, the 3.5 ecoboost has smoother acceleration than the 5.0 but I just couldn't get another V6, turbo or not.

If i were in the market for an F150 it would be a 2015 with the ecoboost 2.7L. This engine is really good from what i've read about it. I wish this engine was offered for the Mustang

About a year back I had a f150 5.0 as a rental for a weekend while they did some work on my car and just pure city driving and I have a heavy foot, i averaged 15.5mpg according to the computers info. I have read though that gas could be poor on ecoboost when u constantly get on those turbos. A buddy of mine had one but did do alot of pulling and traded it in because that the gas compared to his gmc 5.3 before was killing him, although he said it was alot faster than his current 2014 all terrain gmc 5.3. I guess I can try and wait to be able to test drive the new 2.7 and compare it to the 5.0 and 3.5 ecoboost.

https://themustangsource.com/forums/...oboost-533328/

3.5 Ecoboost, XLT (Leather, HID Headlights, MyFord, Chrome Package, 3.55 Electronic Differential) Supercab . . . and almost $12K off of sticker price

I get ~21mpg hwy (depending on speed), and 16mpg other. I have a rather heavy foot.

I bought the '14 ecoboost and love it. I have a moderately heavy foot, but do alot of highway driving so the economy is good for me. Currently the eco is averaging 14L per 100km (no idea what mpg that is). Plus i thing the '15's are FUGLY and need to be slightly redesigned IMHO

I just recently bought a 14 FX4 with the 5.0L... I did not care to much for the redesign of the 15 model.
I chose the 5.0L because I know for a fact there a great engine and there will always be a great resale factor with it, I'm hoping anyway.
As for the eco boost.... Well let's just say if I was really concerned with mileage buying a truck.., I should have just bought a focus.

Nice! And some people like the extra power and torque from the Ecoboost . . . mileage can be relative.
