Although our spies have not yet managed to capture any revealing underhood images, they did manage to get a fairly clear shot of what appears to be the next front fascia for the Taurus SHO. The grille appears to be similar in nature to the 2011 Ford Edge, with more rounded bars than the current SHO.
Ford brass also revealed that the automaker was listening to the critiques coming from owners of the original and new models, and as a result they will be giving the SHO a more aggressive stance, switching chrome for monochromatic styling and even dropping some weight for increased performance in all areas.

400 hp, if they meet or exceed that mark, is going to turn a bunch of heads. SHO is already out-selling their projections by a wide margin, add that much more HP and so much the better. Plus, they're apparently finding some places to save weight.
Big thing I want to see in the SHO as soon as practical is a DCT. Selectshift is a really nice slushbox but its still a slushbox, a DCT is much, much more.
EcoBoost for the regular Fusion, and a performance EcoBoost Fusion edition, are coming but they might/probably won't come before the all-new Fusion in a couple years. Sad, but it will be great when it gets here. In the meantime, I'm hoping that the Sport edition's 3.5 gets TiVCT like the Explorer, which would push power up to the 290 range.

Other than the weight, the most important thing they need to do is put some decent brakes on it. That's the biggest complaint I've seen from everyone that has tested it.
The old ones had the same issue... err well all Taurus's had crappy brakes but espically on the SHO's with the speeds they were capable of.

+1 ... What is this like a midcycle refresh .... at the beginning of the cycle?
Oh yeah that would be awesome!!! Although I thought they were doing this already
Besides having 400 hp these changes will most likely be minor aesthetic differences. I like it. This is the way Ford used to be. Cars could be identified year wise by minor little changes to the body.
This is the Taurus SHO Ford should bring to the table...
455-HP, 517-lb torque. It's big, it's bad, and very fast. A quarter mile pass at 12.4, for a 4300-lb sedan is pretty impressive.

The looks might not be for everyone--but I like the 'blackout' look.
