2009 Ford Econoline: Like most years, the 2009 Ford Econoline van soldiers on with minor improvements, most of them geared toward tradesmen that use the Econoline exclusively as a work vehicle. The list includes wider-opening rear doors, customizable auxiliary switches, additional storage in the door panels, more comfortable seats, an optional navigation system and a trip computer. All Econolines with either the 4.6- or 5.4-liter V8 can now run on E85 ethanol.

2009 Ford Edge: An all-new vehicle in 2008, the 2009 Ford Edge receives only minor changes this year. The biggest news is the addition of the Edge Sport model. It comes standard with an eight-piece body kit, integrated foglamps and 20-inch wheels. A set of 22-inch wheels and a sport-tuned suspension are optional. All versions of the Edge receive additional interior grab handles, cargo tie-down hooks and a cargo net as standard. The optional Sync audio and Bluetooth connectivity system also adds 911 assist for no extra charge while the optional navigation system adds Sirius Travel Link which offers real-time weather maps and traffic. Ambient interior lighting is a new option on all trim levels, as is a blue suede interior appearance package that adds black leather-trimmed seats with blue Alcantara inserts.

2009 Ford Escape: After a mild cosmetic refresh last year, the 2009 Ford Escape gets a few mechanical upgrades this year. A new 2.5-liter inline-4 is now the base engine. It develops 171 horsepower (up from 153 hp) and 171 pound-feet of torque (up from 152). A five-speed manual transmission remains standard, but the optional four-speed automatic has been replaced by a six-speed automatic that delivers an additional 1 mpg in both city and highway driving. A revised version of the Escape's optional 3.0-liter V6 delivers 240 hp (up from 200) and is matched to a six-speed automatic only. All Escapes get a retuned suspension that adds a rear antiroll bar and revised shock valving. In order to improve efficiency, all Escapes have also added low-rolling-resistance tires, a more aerodynamic front end and a new electric power steering system. A capless gas tank is also standard on all models.

2009 Ford Escape Hybrid: After last year's largely cosmetic refresh, the 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid gets a new engine for even better fuel-efficiency. A new 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine develops 153 hp (up from 133) and 136 lb-ft of torque (up from 124). It continues to drive all four wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). A new engine management computer was added to smooth the transition between the gasoline and electric drive systems. There's also a new Escape Hybrid Limited model that adds 16-inch aluminum wheels, chrome exterior trim, a standard six-disc CD changer, ambient interior lighting, heated leather seats, cargo cover and a sunroof.

2009 Ford Expedition: A carryover model, the 2009 Ford Expedition receives only minor updates this year. All Expeditions are now capable of running on E85 ethanol. Ford's new capless filler for the fuel tank is now standard, along with heated second-row seats and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Ford's Sync audio and connectivity system is now a standard feature on Eddie Bauer, Limited and King Ranch editions of Expedition.

2009 Ford Explorer: A handful of new features are the only upgrades for the 2009 Ford Explorer. Trailer Sway Control (TSC) has been added to the electronic stability control system as a standard feature. It can sense uneven loads when towing a trailer and actively brake or reduce engine power to help the driver regain control. The optional navigation system now offers Sirius Travel Link, which can display weather maps and real-time traffic conditions. There's also a new XLT Sport package that adds a black grille, step bars, white instrument faces and a black cloth interior with all-weather floor mats.

2009 Ford Explorer Sport Trac: The Ford Explorer Sport Trac gets a couple new features for 2009.

2009 Ford F-150: The 2009 Ford F-150 has been fully redesigned this year. Dimensionally, it's about the same size as last year's F-150, although crew-cab models get a 6-inch-longer wheelbase for added interior space. The four-door SuperCrew also adds a 6.5-foot bed to the options list. Regular cab models continue with a choice of 6.5- and 8-foot beds, while extended-cab models offer all three bed lengths. The base V6 engine has been dropped, so the standard power plant is now a 16-valve 4.6-liter V8 with 248 hp and 294 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a four-speed automatic transmission only. The midlevel engine is a 24-valve 4.6-liter V8 with 292 hp and 320 lb-ft, while the top-of-the-line 5.4-liter V8 is now rated at 320 hp and 390 lb-ft. Both use a six-speed automatic transmission. There are now seven unique trim levels: XL, STX, XLT, FX4, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. Platinum is a new top-of-the-line trim level that features a satin chrome grille, 10-way-adjustable leather captain's chairs, brushed aluminum interior trim and 20-inch wheels and tires. Notable new options include Ford's Sync system, Sirius Travel Link with real-time traffic and weather updates, a voice-activated navigation system and a 700-watt Sony surround sound audio system.

2009 Ford Flex: The 2009 Ford Flex is an all-new seven-passenger crossover. Based on the same platform as the Taurus sedan, the Flex offers both front- and all-wheel drive. A 3.5-liter V6 with 262 hp is the only engine and it comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. EPA fuel economy for the front-wheel-drive Flex is 17 mpg city/24 mpg highway. The boxy design of the Flex creates a spacious interior that offers up to 83.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the second- and third-row seats folded down. Base SE models are front-wheel drive only and come standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, rear park assist, a 60/40-split second-row bench, a 50/50-split third-row bench that folds into the floor, rear climate controls, a power driver seat and a six-speaker CD stereo with an auxiliary audio jack. The midlevel SEL, available with either front- or all-wheel drive, adds upgraded exterior trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, power heated front seats, leather upholstery (vinyl for the third row) and a 10-speaker stereo with satellite radio. The top-of-the-line Flex Limited, also available with either front- or all-wheel drive, adds 19-inch wheels, xenon headlights, a power liftgate, power-adjustable pedals, a memory function for the driver seat, perforated leather upholstery and Ford's exclusive Microsoft-developed Sync multimedia interface.

2009 Ford Focus: For 2009, the Ford Focus coupe gets a mild refresh while the sedan adds a new trim level. All Focus coupes get new front and rear fascias and standard foglights. Higher-end SES models add a roof-mounted spoiler, unique 17-inch wheels, a sport exhaust and a shorter rear-end gear on automatic models for quicker acceleration. Ford's Sync system is standard on the SES and optional on the base SE. On the sedans, there's a new top-of-the-line SEL trim that adds chrome door handles and mirrors, unique 16-inch wheels, Sync and heated leather seats. All models now offer electronic stability control as an option.

2009 Ford Fusion: With a more extensive refresh scheduled for 2010, the 2009 Ford Fusion receives only minor changes this year. Four-cylinder SEL models now get a five-speed automatic transmission standard while all V6 models add electronic traction control. Electronic stability control is optional on all models. A new Blue Suede package is optional on SE and SEL models and features black leather-trimmed seats with blue Alcantara suede inserts and 18-inch wheels.

2009 Ford Mustang: Like the Fusion, the Mustang is headed for a refresh in 2010, so the 2009 Ford Mustang gets only minor changes. Both V6 and GT models add a glass roof option. All "Premium" trim levels add Sirius Satellite Radio, upgraded interior trim, ambient lighting and satin aluminum instrument panel trim. A "Warrior in Pink" special edition returns to help raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. The limited run of 7,700 2008 Mustang Bullitts has also been extended into the 2009 model year with another 3,000 planned for production. Brilliant Silver has been added to the exterior color palette.

2009 Ford Ranger: The 2009 Ford Ranger carries over unchanged this year.

2009 Ford Taurus: The 2009 Ford Taurus carries over this year with few changes. Electronic stability control and a new post-crash alert system are now standard. Sirius Satellite Radio is now standard equipment on Taurus SEL and Taurus Limited models. A universal garage-door opener and Ford's Sync technology have also been added to the standard features list for the Taurus Limited. There are seven new exterior colors: Brilliant Silver, Cinnamon, Sangria Red, Smokestone, Tuxedo Black, White Sand Tri-Coat and White Suede.

2009 Ford Taurus X: Essentially a carryover model from last year, the 2009 Ford Taurus X gets few changes. Eddie Bauer trim is now available and it adds two-tone paint, standard 18-inch aluminum wheels and wiper-activated headlamps. A new post-crash alert system is now standard on all models and sounds the horn and flashes the emergency lights after an impact involving airbag deployment.

2009 Mercury Mariner: This half-size Mazda-designed utility vehicle offers greater utility than your average crossover. For 2009 the Mariner now incorporates a 171-horsepower 2.5-liter inline-4 matched with a six-speed automatic transmission and it delivers better fuel economy than the former 2.3-liter inline-4. Meanwhile, a new 3.0-liter V6 produces 240 hp. The suspension has been retuned with revised damping plus a rear anti-sway bar, while electric power steering has been incorporated from the Mariner Hybrid. And just like its hybrid sibling, the standard Mariner features low-rolling-resistance 16-inch tires.
2009 Mercury Mariner Hybrid: The Mariner Hybrid continues to be a significant part of the Mariner model mix, accounting for 10 percent of overall sales. The 2009 Mariner Hybrid features the same updates as the standard Mariner (which itself now has some of the efficiency-enhancing hardware from the Mariner Hybrid). The most notable improvement is the adaptation of the new 171-hp inline-4 to the Mariner's hybrid powertrain. More refined electronic controls smooth the transition between full-electric and engine-driven motivation, while the transition between regenerative braking and mechanical braking (a weak point of most hybrids) also has reached new levels of refinement.
2009 Mercury Milan: Like the Ford Fusion and the Lincoln MKZ, the Milan is built on a stretched-wheelbase version of the previous-generation Mazda 6. Mechanically this front-wheel-drive car continues largely unchanged with its 2.3-liter inline-4 and 3.0-liter V6 engine choices, only now a five-speed automatic is finally available for the four-cylinder engine. Stability control is optional. There's a new palette of colors, including Brilliant Silver Clearcoat Metallic, Smokestone Clearcoat Metallic, Sport Blue Clearcoat Metallic, Tuxedo Black Clearcoat Metallic and White Platinum Clearcoat Tri-Coat. The big news is a new Voga edition, a Spanish word that signifies fashion and trend-setting. It features cashmere-color leather upholstery, chrome accents and chrome 17-inch wheels.
2009 Mercury Mountaineer: The Mountaineer is a traditional body-on-frame utility vehicle that can cope with outdoor adventures (like towing and off-roading) that would make a wimpy crossover wilt. It's notable for a longer list of standard features than the similar Ford Explorer and continues unchanged for 2009.
2009 Mercury Sable: This full-size front- and all-wheel-drive sedan companion to the Ford Taurus continues unchanged for 2009 with its standard 3.5-liter V6 and six-speed automatic transmission.

2009 Lincoln MKS: All-new for 2009, the Lincoln MKS has been on the road since the beginning of the summer. It's based on the platform of the Mercury Sable, but Lincoln has conducted a thorough makeover. Fresh bodywork makes the car more formal while disguising its full-size dimensions. Available as either a front- or all-wheel-drive model, the MKS is powered by a 273-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 matched to a conventional six-speed automatic. Lincoln has gone to some lengths to make the interior quiet with a special 6mm-thick windshield in order to allow the occupants to better appreciate the virtues of its THX II-certified 5.1 surround-sound audio system. The voice-activated Sync system helps you make the most of the audio system's capability. Most of all, this is a very large car, with 105.9 cubic feet of interior volume to prove it.
2009 Lincoln MKX: This handsome, well-equipped twin of the front-wheel-drive Ford Edge crossover now features voice-activated navigation and a standard power liftgate. In addition there are a few new details, including a grab handle for the front-seat passenger, a net and hooks for the cargo compartment and even a universal garage door opener.
There are four Lincoln MKX special editions. The Limited Edition features a chrome grille, 20-inch chrome wheels and black seats with stone-color inserts. The Monochromatic Limited Edition begins with a monochromatic grille, then adds the 20-inch chrome wheels and the black seats with stone-color inserts plus unique badging. The Ultimate package is available for both front- and all-wheel-drive versions of the MKS and includes chrome 18-inch wheels, adaptive interior lighting, premium leather upholstery and a power-folding second-row seat. The last special edition is a combination of the Ultimate package and the Ebony Interior package.
Finally, the 2009 Lincoln MKS incorporates the THX II-certified 5.1 surround sound system with a 12-channel amplifier and 12 speakers.
2009 Lincoln MKZ: The MKZ is Lincoln's own version of the Mercury Milan and Ford Fusion, themselves long-wheelbase iterations of the previous-generation Mazda 6. As before, a 263-hp V6 powers this front-wheel-drive car. For 2009, stability control is standard equipment. There's also a Midnight Black option package that includes wood trim and leather upholstery in the same black-and-gray color treatment as the similar package for the MKX. Satellite radio, the THX II-endorsed audio system and Sync voice-activation technology are all part of the 2009 Lincoln MKZ as well.
2009 Lincoln Navigator: This luxuriously trimmed version of the Ford Expedition has even more standard features for 2009 with the addition of parking proximity sensors, rain-sensing wipers, heated second-row seats and finally a rearview camera (the screen appears within the rearview mirror). Among other things, a power liftgate, THX II surround-sound audio, Sync and heated/cooled front seats are now standard equipment as well. The exterior is distinguished by the availability of a Monochrome Limited Edition package of bodywork trim in black, green, silver and white. New exterior colors include Monterey Grey Clearcoat Metallic, Sangria Clearcoat Metallic and White Platinum Tri-Coat.
