The Super Chief concept was the truck Ford should have produced and didn't, not this half-hearted refresh of the existing design.
Truer words were never spoke.

When the newly designed f150 came out in '99 I didn't care for it, but it grew on me and now I own an '03, which as you know was the last year for that style. Now I love it! And I like the current design as well. I like the grill on that King Ranch Edition the best. Nice that they added the step up fetures that the f250 has too, although that protruding blue oval on the tailgate looks a little funky, couldn't they find somewhere else for the back up sensor?

If you do this with an F150 that has SYNC, you WILL lose the SYNC system!!

Its the camera, not the sensor. They have the camera mounted there, so when someone is alone and hitching up a trailer, they can do it themselves, with the camera looking straight down at the hitch. I'm sure you know how much of a PITA it is to keep getting out of the truck to see how far off the trailer hitch you are when backing it up alone.

Now that we are getting some 'real world' photos I am liking the F150 that much more. I like the Dodge as well, but it leaves me with a Dakota feeling.

What sucks about new F-150 is that engine choices (w/ same power) will stay the same.

How the heck is Ford planing to compete with 300 hp engine when pretty much everybody have much more?

Although I am dissappointed with the engine options, I still think the truck looks fantastic. I don't get why people hate it, and I especially don't get why they like the new Ram, now that thing is ugly. They pretty much just slanted the front grill and added some duel exhaust. Neither truck is a huge evolution from their previous models, but I still feel that the F-150 is the best looking. Even if you aren't thrilled with the new look, it certainly isn't bad enough to suddenly be dropped to the bottom of the list.

I think they are gonna have the new engines in 2010.

I'm not sure about the 4.6L, but the 5.4L is supposed to get a power bump in '09. HP isn't as important as torque. If they can get the torque close to the competitors, then they'll be OK until the BOSS engines debut in '10.

According to this http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/au...hotopanel..2.* only 4.6L will receive power bump.

I expected at least 370 hp from 5.4L since everybody else have 260-280 hp.

All the insiders on BON having been saying the 5.4L gets tweaked. Also, I believe you mean 370 not 270 as the current 5.4L makes 300.

Like I said, torque is more important than HP in a truck. The current 5.4L makes 365. If it gets a decent power bump, it should be close to the competition.

EDIT: I read the article in your link and this is what is says about the 5.4:

Ford will not release horsepower figures for the 2009 engines. But it's fair to assume that they'll be similar in output to last year's motors. This means the 5.4-liter will make at least 300 hp and 365 pound-feet of torque.
All that says is that it will be at least as good as last year but really doesn't address the power levels for '09 (i.e. Edmunds doesn't know any more than the rest of us).

I hate waiting. Ford already disappointed me with new F-150's design (I like current model a lot more), I hope they won't do the same thing with engine choices.

Looks great, and the refinement continues. Apparently they are trying to trim weight here and there, apparently after the new Tundra came out, Ford was like oh ****, I guess 500% stronger frame then Toyota was a bit of overkill. Anyway, if you havent driven a new 6-speed Expedition, you have NO idea how much of an improvement that is, even before the next gen motors arrive. 5.4 gets bumped to at least 310hp.

Power Bump for the 5.4 is said (up to 325)
to hold off until the 6.2L Boss is ready as well as the 3.5 EcoBoost.
And the 4.4L Diesel

Nothing but the truth right there. I had an '01 Supercrew with the 5.4 and 4spd trans before my Mustang. I test drove an Expy with the 6spd and it is a world of difference. It was like the 5.4 suddenly gained a lot of extra power and it shifted nice and smooth.

People say that every time Ford comes out with a new truck.
They complain about the 'old' truck not being updated, but the 'New' truck is never good enough, until the next new truck.

The new RAM interior looks like the previos Ford interior

No, the new Ford design comes partly from past Ford concept trucks, which Toyota, and others copied, as they always do.
