I am looking to put a new top on my Cobra. The old top is getting pretty raggedy quickly and I really want to get it taken care of. Everything else is good, so I should just need to get the top. Here's where my question comes in... Black or the original Tan. I really like black tops, but I'm not quite sure how it will look. If I keep this car long term I will probably have the car repainted white and go with blue stripes instead of the gold that are on it, but that's only if I keep the car. Please let me know what you guys think?

Are the stripes on your hood/wing Tan? If so, go tan. Otherwise, go black.

Edit: should've read first. If you're going to repaint go black, if not stay tan.

I have bought 2 saddle tops & loved them. I just added black accent stuff, so I got a black 1 just for looks. If you're painting, I'd go black. Black just looks great!!

Thanks for the thoughts everybody! I just ordered the new top, and I went with tan. It will be quite some time before I do paint the car if I end up keeping it and I think I agree with what a lot of you have said, with gold stripes I should stick with a tan top.

Now I just need to find a place that sells tacking strips...

 

Yeah, I wanted to repaint my car since I bought it. Took me like 6-7 years to actually do it.

 

i say black, or like how my uncles was on his SN95, white as his was a white convertible too.

 

depending where you live and what the summer heat is like may be a factor. I went with tan because it is hot here in the summer and did not want the car any hotter than it could be. Black will get real hot in the sun if above 95*

 

I say black and remove the stripes.
