What's missing next to the ignition coil?

Can anyone ID what is missing from the grey connector on top of the ignition coil? I have tried finding it in images on other cars but have never seen anything like this on any other car that I have found. It's been missing for quite some time and I could not find any mention of it in the Haynes book either.

It only has a single red wire that comes out of what looks like the ignition wiring harness. And there's no ground wire so I'm assuming it connected somewhere that I can't trace.

Thanks in advance!!!

Made some progress in another forum, can you ID what this silver cylinder thing is? I am missing it, and I am starting to believe that it's what was connected to that port?

Is it a condenser to reduce radio interference from the ignition system?
