If I were to own an 05-09 S197, it would have to be an 08-09 Bullitt, 07 Parnelli Jones, 08-09 Vapor Silver GT with Glass Roof/Chamois interior/GT500 front end conversion, or 08 Cali SGT in Grabber Orange. I'm very picky.

I'm picky too, it would have to be a 07-09 GT500!

I really enjoyed my '04 gt the years I had it.
I am ***** deep in mods on this '07 and having fun as well.

The op just happened to come across a ******** who feels that if he has a newer car than you then somehow it makes him superior.
You see that from time to time out there unfortunately.
Some new camaro owners are acting the same way towards the f-body owners so it isn't exclusive to mustangs.

However, IMO, I see this kind of attitude mostly from the 03/04 & gt500 owners.
Some of these guys are real a**holes to everyone let alone another mustang owner.
I think that in some pitiful way the car was bought to compensate for low self esteem or some level of an inferiority complex they have.
The car didn't make them an a**hole it just amplified a pre existing condition.

Having said that though, I know not all are like that and some Cobra owners are true blue mustang enthusiasts and know the car doesn't make the man and therefore act accordingly.

I like my current car and hold my head high no matter who comes along.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Anyways, I thought it was the fox car that had taken on the black-sheep status? Ford even snubbed them in one of the early S-197 commercials (64-73 check, 74-78 check, 79-92????, 93-2004 check)

I have to disagree on that one. The fox cars have a pretty loyal following to this day. I remember when the 94 model came out and many fox guys shunned the car, then came the 4.6 in 96 and the 2V 4.6 became black sheep even when new! A good condition low mile fox is worth more than a newer 94-98 car in most cases.

I agree though that skipping over the fox in that commercial was bull!

Fox black sheep? no way! easily one of the hottest cars on the dragstrip when done right of course!
I will be getting a notchback to fix up for the track
Foxes are actually going for more than 94-98 cars on the market. like 97gto said.

To each his own. I traded an 06 for an 03 Mach 1 and couldn't be happier. If you have to put down someone else's ride you must not be too confident about your own.

Personally I'm in agreement, I think the fox cars were very important to Mustang, but once you get outside of the gearheads and long time Mustang guys it gets snubbed. The comment I most often see; "It doesn't even look like a Mustang".

Anyways I can see where you guys are coming from with the 94-98 cars, Ford really screwed up there with the introduction of the 4.6

Yea a lot of people I know and talk who are outside the mustang realm to don't like the foxes or really even the 94-98. They also generalize the 99-04 as chic cars. Gets annoying to say the least.

I can honestly say I get as many or more compliments when I drive my fox than my GT500.

I'm sure there are those out there that don't like the fox cars, but I don't pay them any mind

I pointed out a fox to my sister a while back, and the first thing out of her mouth "Is that a mustang?"...

Personally I'd take the '94-'98 over a new edge, as long as I go the PI route. I really like that design better when done up. Stock for stock though, '99 wins

when i was looking to get back into a mustang i was considering either an 03/04 cobra or the 2011. I love the new edges but its hard to find a termi that hasnt been beat on.

i do know a guy thats got an 04 cobra, he even put a whipple on it. making like 630 rwhp and yet when he takes me and my otehr friend for a ride we literally have to beg him to get on it. to him the cobra and the whipple are just status symbols. He has a lightning to and when i had my roush nitemare F150 i told him we should race. he said "I dont race my daily driver"

I know it sounds silly but my main gripe with the fox is that it didn't have a chrome pony in the grille! Even the Mustang IIs had that. I think if Ford gave all foxes the 93 Cobra body kit it would have been more identifiable as a Mustang.
P.S.
the 1993 Cobra is the best looking fox of all time!

I don't know. I like the later model SVO's with the bi-wings. But I would have a hard time picking between that and the '93 Cobra as the best Fox Mustang.
