Used vortech will be cheapest easiest setup. You will want more than 6psi though. You will be safe with 10 or so. I ran 14 for quite a while stock internals. How much are you looking to spend?

No matter what you buy you will be around 9psi. Like above, a used Vortech would be the cheapest. Supercharging costs money, so no matter what you are going to spend atleast 2k-3k, if not more.

You have to make sure to factor in all the extra costs that go into it, sufficent fuel system upgrades, colder spark plugs, dyno tuning. It would suck to have everything together only to find out you have no more money to tune the thing.

I wanted a roots type but I figured I'd have to settle with a centrifugal style. I really don't want to spend more than 2k if I didn't have to. I have a buddy of mine who can get parts for whole sale. But I'm probably gonna have to go piece by piece when I buy it.

Roots are more expensive and create more heat. They also dont create as much boost efficiently. However dont have as much "lag". You can peiece together a vortech for about 2k but just know that it will be more in the end after a chip, tune, fuel pump, and dependin how much boost a boostapump ect. Injectors and maf are needed as well. There is alot to it but you should be able to find used. If you wanted to spend a little more i have a fresh vortech setup with aftercooler system anderson power pipe injectors maf everything needed that i might be selling

Whatever you budget for add another $500 I just put mine in last weekend and I ran into all sorts of unexpected costs.

Well just to be clear it's not an 04 GT, rather a '68 coupe.

But I found the B&M 144 roots blower used but rebuilt for $1000 it was the best money I spent on my car so far. My gauge is reading 6 pounds and it really woke it up. (and I was more than satisfied with the performance before I installed it)

I never drove a supercharged car before. What should I expect? I'm kinda excited lol. I've driven a turbo Sti before with about 15-18psi. Pretty insane.

Feels like someone dropped an extra motor under your hood. It will feel like you have been driving a Hyundai all this time.

I agree I was more than happy with my performance when I was NA but its a whole 'nother car now.

The car feels peppy when you are really not giving the engine enough load to make boost, and then half throttle later all of the blood in your face will be in the back of your skull!

For someone who has more experience with blowers than I, why does my car feel faster than it was while I was NA before I even get into boost?

The supercharger is always creating some boost so thats what you are feeling. The tune also accounts for some im sure.

Its because you have a Roots blower, like the 03 cobras. They really make boost all the time and create awesome low end torque. I don't know how yours is setup but the cobras have a boost bypass that bleeds it off when you are not in the throttle.

If you had a centri you wouldn't feel that same increase in the low end.

I always thought twin screw and roots were one in the same. I know centrifugals lag a little, but of course not as bad as a turbo. I prefer a roots but they are more expensive.

No roots and twin screw are different. You rarely see roots anymore

No? How about on the ZR1 corvette, ZL1 Camaro and CTS-V?

Also the 2013 GT500, which will use the same roots blower as the above cars...

edit: also current GT500 has a roots.
