Thinking of adding a chip but are they worth it

Been looking at some Ebay auctions at some performance chips. Are these worth the 40.00 or so to buy? Do they really give you the 40 HP they claim to? Looking to get a few opinions before I decide either way.

no. If its $40, its more than likely a $40 paperweight. They also arent going to give you the claimed hp. Its much like gimics like the tornado and other stuff that does wonders for your car.

If you want a real chip that bebfits your car, check out tuners like bamachips.com.

Don't waste your money with "chips". If you want inreased performance, do it right and get a CAI w/tuner.

All those "chips" really do is fool your engine into thinking that you're getting cold air in your intake. Which in close to 100 degrees in some places, is not a good thing...

As the guy stated above, The fourty dollar addon that is avaliable on ebay, is nothing but a resistor that goes between your factory PCM and your Intake Air Temp Sensor. It can really mess some thing things up. Soo its bad buisness. I would reccomend one of theses bad boys, http://www.bamachips.com/store/index...45c90912539aef

good luck!

Thanks for the advice all. I think I may hold off with adding HP for a while. I need to finish my sound system first. Car came with the Mach syytem, I recently replaced the stereo with a sweet Pioneer deck. Leaving the speakers for now with the 2 amps, but wanting to add a couple subs. I believe 10 in will fit in the trunk with a nice amp.
