Special 2000 Cobra R
When the 2000 R was coming out i read like every article there was on the car. and the engineers had said that their was one car out of the 300 that had somthing special... somthing with the intake manifold or under the manifold? Anyone ever find out which car it was and what was so speciaabout it?
I had asked a question on engine swapping a while back. A forum member suggested using the Lincoln Navigator engine because it was the same as the Cobra R.
Here is how Scothew responded to that comment, and it gives some better insight.

No its far from a cobra R. The R is a DOHC 5.4L, but its hand built, has completely forged internals, aluminum block. Also has custom designed cams in which you can not buy as well as a completely custom intake that ford will not cast anymore.

All the cobra R's have the same motor and exhaust and so on, the only difference is Ford's own Cobra R is on its 2nd and 3rd helping of some parts due to some ignorant magazine testers

Actually the Cobra R used in the Magazines that you saw ended up as a race car for Rehagen racing(sp?) and was wrecked badly during its first or one of it's first races. It still sits at their race shop out back today in the B'ham area. This information was told to me by one of their team members at Barber motorsport park.

I had read back when they first came out that SVT did somthing special on 1 of the 300 cars..
It was 1 random car that was a lot faster then the rest of them.
Somthing was different with that car then the rest and i wanted to know if anyone found out what was different on that particular car.

Thats not really what my question was. I am not talking about the batch of Cobra R engines.

Do you have any questions about that car? I'm sure Mike would be glad to answer them..
LOL!! Com'on Knight!! Your asking a question that does not have any relevance at all to the entire scheme of things.. Once your question is answered, what from the answer can be gained by you that is relevant?
1 2000 Cobra out of 300 thats much faster than those 300 means absolutley nothing to anyone.. Not even you.. If Ford wont even cast the intake, you cant even buy a 5.4L engine and get the intake to install on the 5.4L engine you bought..
Now, what is so important about the intake that is not available to anyone to buy, for a 5.4L engine, that you feel you need to know?
LOL!! I'm not trying to be a smart azz or anything, but trying to understand what your intentions are after you find out what you need to know.. Man its 2005 brotha!! 1 2000 Cobra R's with a special intake which is most likley wrecked and parted out by now means nothing...
Please ask Mike at Powerhouse something about his 10's stang which has a 2005 motor with a Turbo you can buy..
I'm not nit-picking or anything.. I am curious why this info is so important, if it cant help anyone here.. ?? Talk to me brotha, whats on your mind!

My point was mainly about the focus on one particular 2000 Cobra... Now if all the 2000 Cobra's featured the special setup, then I would understand more.. However, he is interested in the 1 out of 300... If what made the one in particular special was an intake, then thats not made anymore.. Also, the moderator svopaul has confirmed the Cobra he saw in the article has been wrecked already... So he is right, that Cobra was pretty fast.. So fast, even a professional race driver couldnt control it and wrecked it.. LOL!!
Knights a very cool guy, I was only kiddin with him in general. But that cobra is gone man.. Done! Personally, I regret selling my 1993 Cobra once I paid it off.. I should have kept it, and dropped in a 5.8L motor... I screwed up.. :notnice:
Sorry MSP, but your comments are way off base.
If there is one R out there that makes more power and is faster, I want to know about it and what is different than the other 299.
I do know someone put a turbo kit on an R and at something like 6psi of boost, it made over 600rwhp and wouldnt hook up at the track untill after the 1/8th mi mark on street tires.
You saying it was so fast that even a professional race driver couldnt control it is insane and completely ignorant. You dont know hte driver, the car, the conditions or the situation. Sorry that is just a stupid comment to make.

I have.. just been a bit preoccupied lately so havent been on the boards as much.

I just dont understand how there can be a special Cobra R, in which only one was produced... If they added something to the car, then why not make what it was available... I think specail would be more like if 100 of the Cobra R's had a special setup and the cars were sold... In terms of the engine there are a million things you can do to the engine then call it special..
Anyway, dont take AnotherMustangMans advice because he consistantly has bad intentions... Dont believe me, go read all his post..
Also Scothew, in regards to special, special for who? SVOPaul says they gave that special Cobra to a race team.. So now that car is a race application.. Not really all that special in terms of it being special for the consumer... Considering a car special mean its available to the public.. This car clearly was not..

I wouldnt say my intentions are ill, rather, guided by a general dislike of ignorance.

So lets not beat around the bush.. I dont like you, and you dislike me.. This is wonderful news... So lets both act as if we both dont exist, so this way, we dont argue in public..

From what I understand that car was pre production and not with a useable VIN...It was given to them by Ford.....the car was saved and put out back so that it was there if they wanted to fix it down the road.
