well i have my pats disabled. so it can start with no key. if you wish to insert a key before starting leave pats on and insert the key. you wont need to turn it but it will need to be there so pats can pick the chip up

No the key is not usable anymore. This mod requires you to pull the ignition switch apart to solder the pins. I guess you could attach to the wires but the main reason I did this is because the key stopped working. So I didn't plan on keeping the ignition hooked up. Either way I can draw a diagram to keep the switch intact and leave the key usable
