Removing air bags.

Removing air bags.
One of my friends is donating his 97 V6 to charity, and all they are gonna do is charge people swing an axe at it.
He told me that I could take anything out of it that I wanted to. I want to take the air bags out of it and sell them. I need to know how to do this without them blowing up in my face.

Anyway, if you want to remove the bags-make sure the battery is disonnected, also for insurance make sure fuses #15-10 amp, #1-15 amp and #4-10 amp are removed. Allow about 5 minutes or so for the backup power in the restraint module to power down. Then remove the screws from the steering wheel back that secure the bag. Remove the bag and disconnect the electrical connector. The same procedure applies for the pass bag-except you access the screws from above the glove box. You must remove the pass side a/c duct from inside the dash first (two screws).
Hope this helps.
