I really like the look of it but I'd like for the Bullitt to stay mostly functional (with the exception of the stock hood scoop), but I guess if I had a to swap to an 03' Cobra hood to realease hot air from under the hood it wouldn't be a bad excuse to make it more functional!

you bring the materials, we can do it!

Meaning me? Sure. I don't care who does it as long as it gets done. Is there anything that really needs to be left open?

Other than the engine bay...

"Other than the engine bay... "
Does the engine bay really need to be left open other than the opening for the radiator? Otherwise make the panles easily removalble and covering the bottom of the engine bay shouldn't be a problem.
"- Then you're going to have to cut the inserts in the "vents" of the '03/'04 Cobra hood to make them more functional. "
-I meant more functional than the stock hood on a Bullitt (you know that really fake scoop), I believe the 03's hood is at least slightly vented.

Where would all the hot air go that was in the engine bay? Out through the two holes in your Cobra hood? Even some of the hyper exotics let the engine bay be uncovered on the bottom if they don't have huge vents elsewhere.

They have some tunnel/pipe connected from the engine bay to the sides or rear to vent out the hot air, if I remember from a Porsche 959 cut away I once saw on a magazine. Also this adds downforce.

You could always just buy the Saleen SR kit, so you would have the huge vents out the side. Then you wouldn't have to worry about the engine bay. How would you even fit the exhaust with said undercarriage? Hm. Food for thought.

Since all of this wouldn't really be good for anything other than track use you would probably have to enclose the exhaust between the floor and the underbody panel. Maybe you could route the engine heat (which should still be cooler than the exhaust pipes through the space between the floor and underbody and then dump it out the Side Skirt or out the back bumper. I guess with all the modifications we might as well start building a race car rather than a street car! anyone remember the old KennyBrown V6 mutang with it's air managment design? It had all sorts of cut outs in the side fenders, bumpers and quarters to help rout air through the car. i'll try to find the link.

and since i don't own a mustang right now, i would be willing to do the test driving and use it as my daily driver. for testing purposes of course. hard job, but someone has to do it.

Yep that's it! I think you could fab something like those body mods to help reduce heat and improve air flow in and out of the engine. I'm just not willing to cut those kind of holes in my Bullitt, so maybe we can use Arin's! Unless Chris is buying us one to work on!

Hey Bill you know that 2000 Cobra R 1:18 you got me a while back. I was looking at that last night to see what kind of underpanels could fit. Of course it would be impossible to use the cobra r with its side exhuast and race fuel tank. BUt looked at how it could cover the front and the cats and stuff. I think it could be done, just depends on materials, cost, and if it even helps anything.
