That has happened to me a couple of times. Where I used to work a couple of years ago I always passed a state troopers office going from school to work. One guy talked to me for like 30 minutes about mustangs when I finaly had to tell him I was late for work.

they dont think it's fast enough to be a problem

I'm sure I'll get pulled, cuz my exhaust is going to be loud as a mother! California car laws are BS! Pete, did they have any other reason to pull you over, or was it just speculation? here in the wonderful state of SC, they can't pull you over for that, unless they have other reason (speeding, wreckless driving, no seatbelt)

They probably saw Arin playing with his toy squirt gun in Pete's back seat the other night, but wanted to wait until it was safer to pull the car over.

The light sprinkle turned into a down pour and therefore it will be at least tomorrow before I'll be able to work on it.

Unless I decide I want to enough to move stuff around in the garage to give me space to pull my front end in there... Which isn't very likely...

It got pretty bad here, and then it turned into a sprinkle, so I took the old fender off, and got the new one mostly back on. Just a few more bolts and a little adjusting to make it match the rest of the body and we're ready to roll.

The fender fits horribly, and I have no idea how to fix it...

Did you keep tabs of the # of shims and their placement when you took the old fender off?

I counted them when I took them off, and put them back on the same way, but it didn't work, so I moved them around, and still it did not work. Not only does it not line up, but the bumper doesn't fit at all, and I have no idea why. Arin's coming down Tuesday and we're gonna work on this, but I don't really understand why it's not working out.

Sorry to hear man, that is very frustrating. Hopefully you and Arin can figure it out.

I've decided that the other problem is how the front bumper looks a bit out of wack. I'm gonna buy some shims and longer bolts and see if I can fit the fender correctly. It seems like I need the entire thing to get moved up.

Hmmmmm. I had the same issue with my fender, and I can tell you is a pita to align it. Mine is a Taiwan repro btw. You just have to play with the upper and lower screws together to get it right at the top & bottom. And the bumper has a metal bracket w riveted into it. The rivets tend to tear the bumper or loose over time. If that's the case, remove the rivets and put screws w thin washers and that should fix it or get a new bracket if you find it a little mangled.
If not, then loosen the brackets nuts and move the bumper up and tighten. It's a tedious work for sure! but that's how Auto body shops do it.
