Only problems I've heard of with getting underdrive pully kits is that it makes some cars get electrical issues. I think this was only for Fox Body and 94-98 Mustangs though, but I'm not even 75% sure on the years. You'll most deffinately need a tune after you gets the pully kit though, I know that for sure.

EDIT: As far as brand is concerned though, I've heard you get more power out of Steeda's.

pulley will NOT need a tune. all it does is reduce the parasitic drag on the pulleys.

+1

No tune needed. Just slows accessories down. Also, stay away from the piggyback pullies. Most people I see like the Steeda's but to each his own.

Yup, no tune required for pullys. Did mine a couple of weeks ago and haven't had any issues with any accessories.

As mentioned, some kits just go over the existing pullys so research what you choose. I have the Steeda pullys and they went on easy and have worked great so far.

From experience, (installing UD Pullies on a 95 5.0) it ran like crap without a tune. He got a tune before, then added pullies, and it was worse than it was before the tune. Maybe his car is different, idk...

Your first time will be pretty hard. Mostly with getting the belt back on. Other than that it's fairly easy.

I own a Fox, and I put on it a set of underdrive MARCH pulleys. It gave me charging and starting problems, because it slows the alternator down. It also gave me a bit of an overheating problem on hotter humid days here in Chicago.

You have to think that if this is such a simple (and cheap) way to free up a few HP, and its supposedly safe and is emissions legal and all that good stuff, then why didn't Ford do it in the first place?

Both BBK and Steeda make quality products that I trust oin my car. I would trust either set of pullies on my ride. Probably which ever is cheaper when I get around to getting them.
