Need Some Tires

Hey all,

I might decide in a month or two to get some tires. They are down to a 1/32" on a couple, lol. I am using the stock 245/45/17s. I think these went for $200 a pop at tires plus. I was just curious how much wider i can go? right now price matters but i cant see spending more then $300 on a tire is ridiculous for me. I dont need a track tire but i want some to handle / grip better. I am using the rims from AM in my sig if it makes any diff. Ford puts them on for $160 ouchie! I am looking at tirerack for now..

Thanks

Your handling will suffer with a 275 tire on a 17x8 rim. Too much sidewall flex. The widest you should go should be a 255.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but I am also looking for new tires. I own an 03' Cobra with the original F1 Goodyears. I am looking into replacing them but the original equipment tires for this car are like $300+! Do you guys know of any tires you prefer for a better price and maybe a longer treadlife, I only have 10k on the car and the back tires are cooked!

only thing about these tire are they are somewhat noisy. i've paid a 950 total cuz they put in shipping. dont go to ford unless they can give that much of a dicount from tirerack. but i dont know about the cobra price.
