Thumbs up

I have started to use my 04 gt for HPDE events here in phoenix and am looking to upgrade my brakes.
Any opinions on what to upgrade to ? I was looking at the cobra or the cobra R upgrade but not sure the performance differences between them and the stock setup.
Can someone please help me with some information or direct me to some place to read up on this?
Also is any one else doing HPDE events in their mustangs?
Thanks,
Jamie

Well teh cobra/Bullitt brakes on the front are a 13" rotor compared to your stock 11". Also its a dual piston, but I believe yours are as well.

The rear brake setup for a cobra and bullitt is the same as yours, except it uses a vented disk instead of your solid one.

The cobra R difference is it has 4 piston front calibers and a hefty price tag to boot :P It may also have a slightly larger rotor, but I am unsure.

I thought the Cobra/Bullitt rear rotor was also bigger than the stock GT rotor, 11.65" rotor vs. stock. As far as I knew the Cobra/Bullitt/Mach 1 brakes were identical to stock GT in caliper/hoses but all had larger diameter rotors (13" front and 11.65" rear) but, still a great and economical upgrade.

The Cobra/Bullit/Mach 1 brakes have a upgraded two piston caliper and 13" disk on front and a single piston caliper with a larger 11.65" disk in back. They improve performance greatlt!

Thanks for the info. It looks like I will be doing the Cobra upgrade to the front brakes and saving the cash from the cobra R upgrade for my suspension upgrades.

While you are at it, why not throw on some SS brake lines....these will greatly improve your pedal feel, it will firm up the pedal over the stock rubber lines. Since you run her on the track, also make sure you change brake fluid regularly.

azjnson,

Just did this upgrade a few months ago and I have to say I was very happy with the new feel.

13" FRPP D/S rotors, Bullit calipers and SS brake hoses. I opted not to do the rears either......yet.
