Mystery wires found needing help!!

Ok I got another question for those of you who know more about the starting systems of these cars, namely anyone with a 2004 mustang similar to the one in my avitar/signature, I was able to get the flasher out and all that fun stuff, however I have found two mystery wires that are green and red, that are just hanging down, the red one did come into contact with the frame of the car (under the dash at the fuse box) and I have no idea where these two small red and green wires go to or what they control, or if I should leave them disconnected (they look to be factory wires of sorts) and I don't want to risk damage to the car.

these wires as far as I can tell look to be part of the starting relay that sits up under the dash, least thats what I determined by pulling the relay...does anyone know about the wires I am speaking of? if it helps I can go take a picture of the two mystery wires in question, just let me know. I don't really want to take it to the local dealer ship for Ford but if I need to I will.

That... doesn't look factory.

You'll have to find out the colors of the wires they are connected to, but neither of those splices are factory, they wouldn't do that. That whole bundle looks spliced up and back, like someone stuck an alarm that disabled and/or started the car, and then put it back and left these two hangin' around.

Just a guess though.

In any event, unless you wanna traipse through and figure it out, I'd just be capping them and tying them up with the rest of the harness, if the car is otherwise working.

If it's not, well.. yeah, you're gonna need the colors those attach to, and then the '04 wiring diagram to fix it. Or get another harness.

Probably if you took it all down and sorted it out, you can see where the original wires go back together if they're apart and splice it correctly.

I took it right to the dealer I picked it up with and they quickly sorted out the potental fire hazard for me...the relay if disconnected kills starting of the car, so I am wondering if someone attempted to install some sort of remote start for this car...either way I think once I work up the courage I may tear it out and figure out whats what and redo it or at least clean it up, but the car works so I really don't feel like fixing something thats not broken...so I may just very well leave it as is...

"If it ain't broke" is a good saying. It keeps people from breaking things worse.

Oh, how many times I've wished I hadn't left well enough alone...

I can agree, thats why I decided, even though the car doesnt seem to be needing them, I am leaving them well enough alone and not going to try and fix something that is working....
