since i dont have the money right now for a full cat-back i was wondering how it would sound (i know itd still be restrictive) if i just got magnaflow mufflers and then get custom pipes later. would i have the sound im looking for if i just did that and leave the stock pipes?

-thanks

I've got just the magnaflow mufflers welded into my stock catback on the cobra, and had the same setup on my 00 gt. It worked fine and sounded great. The stock 99+ pipes not as restrictive as you think, maybe a tad bit more than teh whole magnaflow catback, but still not bad. Go ahead and get a good shop to weld them in. I promise it will be worth it!!

I think the Flowmasters sound better than Magnaflow...Flows just sound clearer and throaghty. Magnaflows sound...dirty to me, dirty and loud, not real quality sound. I have just Flows welded in to my stock exh. sounds BEA-utiful!!!

what is the stock exhaust diameter? I found the mufflers that I want either these if the stock exhaust is 2.25" or these if the stock exhaust is 2" I found them on ebay for $59.92 from performance peddler, thats where my friend got his Magnaflow muffler so hes a good seller.

Stock exhaust is 2.25". Go with a 2.5" muffler, it will work fine.

Would this be ok on a 94 GT? I saw it mentioned that the 99+ pipes weren't too restrictive, what about the 94?

the 94 pipes I think are 1.75" or maybe 2" im not really sure. Either way,you could put the mufflers in and probably gain a few ponies over stock, but you would benefit from the full cat-back.
