interior light not turning off.

tonight i had a problem with my 99 GT.

No matter what i did the interior light would not go off. I tried making sure all the doors were closed and tried turning the headlight **** to make sure it wasn't all the way turned. i could not get it to go off for the life of me so i pulled the bulb out.

any idea why this would happen?

I have no clue but it happened to me a few months ago. I finally got mad and took the bulb out.

Sounds like the switch is stuck...do you remember when it stayed on? Was it after you closed the door or were you using the interior light through the headlight ****?

there is a "rod" on the door that fits into a hole in the door jamb. There is a magnetic switch in the door jamb that senses when the door is closed (it is not a push switch). I cleaned the "hole" and the "rod" with solvent, and it seemed to fix it for a while.

I think the wheel for dimming the lights/dash in the car maybe pushed up.

Chris, did you try my idea? looking at the haynes manual, it was the only thing I could see that could cause it, and sure enough, it did fix it when I cleaned the "contacts"
