Hypercoated Saleen Wheels

Anyone have a reputable place to get them? They're not sold on American Muscle any longer. I believe that the Hyper Black wheels are the same coating. I see some on Cruzin Concepts site, but I've never dealt with them.

They look like this, chrome-ish, without the bling factor.

Love those wheels . . . except in Chrome (but I'm not a big fan of chrome wheels in general). I think there is a set for sale on svtperformance.com for $600 (18x9 and 18x10) and add ~$85 per wheel to get them recoated. Might wanna try that route . . . (They might be on mach1registry.com in TX.)

Chrome looks good, but on the Sonic Blue I think it's a bit too much bling. I like the hypercoated because they've got the look of chrome without the shiny blingness. I'll probably end up getting black chrome.

I'd love the RK's that you have on the Mach, but you can't get a big brake kit behind them.

Totally understand, but that's a fairly good price as I think those are real Saleens.

Nope, that is their only drawback, in my opinion. If I were to ever upgrade brakes I would probably get some CCW Classics.

Ah, okay. I thought they were the AM ones. If they're real, then that's a pretty good price.

I like the classics, but look at them and think "That would suck *** to clean!"

I love this wheel and finish comobo! I'm sorry that we don't offer this finish anymore. However, you're correct. That is the same as Hyper Black! I'm going to talk to our purchasing team about possibly bringing this finish back in. If not, I hope you have some luck finding them!

Sorry I couldn't be more help!

-Dan

Dan, what can you tell me about the black chrome finish? I really don't want a black looking wheel (don't like black wheels with black tires and no sliver lip to divide them), but if it comes across as a darker hypercoat look I'd be really interested.

I really like black chrome, guy I know has black chrome FR500s. Let me go get a couple pics of his GT.

EDIT:

I like the fact that they're not black, just a really dark finish on a wheel that is light colored underneath.

The above pictures are a great example. They're not really Black nor are they Chrome. It's definitely a combination of both! If it's dark out and there is no sun on the wheel, it could be mistaken for a Black wheel. However, during the day in the sun, the wheel has a more Chrome look do it. It's very similar to Hyperblack!

I really love the Black Chrome and I think you will also!

Hope this helps.

Hyper Silver looks great . . . I can't seem to find those for sale. (And can't remember if you wanted Hyper Silver or Black.)

After seeing a couple of the QC items with the hypercoated wheels (different wheels being different colors due to the process) I think I'll go with the black chrome. If AM or someone like that that I really trusted (and knew would work to ensure they were right) had them, I'd buy them. I don't know that I trust eBay that well.

Black chrome is no better. Most places quit doing it because it was so hard to replicate the finish. If you end up getting wheels from different batches they won't match, I've even heard of some from the same batch not matching.

It's definitely a concern of mine. But with an online store I know really well, if the finish doesnt quite match, we can work to fix it, not quite so with eBay.
