How Do I Match the Paint on my AM Deep Dish Bullitts?
How Do I Match the Paint on my AM Deep Dish Bullitts?
I just bought a pair of Anthracite Deep Dish Bullitts from American Muscle to go on the back of my car. I have another unknown brand of charcoal Bullitts on the front of the car. I want them to all be the same color, so I need to either paint the brand new AM Bullitts charcoal (not my first choice!), or paint the unknown Bullitts Anthracite.
AM said they have no way to help me match the color, other than to call the Ford dealer. I know the AM wheels are way lighter than the Ford Bullitts, and you can see it clearly by looking at them on the Web. Today I went to the auto parts store and could not find a good Duplicolor matching paint.
Before I look for a charcoal matching paint (good luck with that, huh?), does anyone have any idea how to match the Anthracite paint? I just want a rattle can, not a professional body shop $75 can of paint that will have to be professionally sprayed.
Thanks,
BB

You can either rattle can the wheels, get them powder coated or purchase the matching fronts. Which ever of these options works for you!
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

I'd say just go ahead and buy two matching for the front. Maybe you do some deep searching you can find where someone had a set of four than bought two deep dish and are trying to sell two of the others b
Best way would be to paint the unknown wheel anthracite. Take the AM wheels to an automotive paint store and they can take their paint chip samples and match the wheels. If there is no way to get a spray can for the color than the next best which i hate to suggest since you just bought the AM wheels. But, you could find a color you like and paint all 4. They would match for sure. Make sure you clear them after painting the gray so the gray doesn't chip off.
Edit: I agree with above the very best way is to buy 2 matching fronts. but for budget reasons I suggested above. You could sell the two unknown and get some money toward buying two more AM wheels.

Thanks, Dan and others for the advice.
I bit the "Bullitt" and just ordered two more Anthracite Bullitts from AM. The wheels would never have never matched and it would drive me nuts. I'm selling the 18x9s to a friend who bought my rear 18x10s. Neither of our cars would have matching wheels unless we did it this way. I have to say, I wish I originally got Bullitts that were not deep dish, though.
Still, two weeks ago my car had the 16" base alloys so I'm quite pleased...
