Help with CAI install

Hi All,

I feel like an idiot because everyone says that the cai install is so easy but it has been incredibly frustrating. I purchased the AM kit for my 2001 V6 and am having trouble with the rubber couplers. They are just too darn tight that I can't fit them on the throttle body / pipe. Any advise?

It's the right kit. I just can't get these couplers on- they're way too tight. Link: http://www.americanmuscle.com/muv6coairins.html

Spray the inside lightly with silicone spray, wd40 or a very light oil on your finger and just make a thin film on the edges so the coupler will slide easier. I used a silicone spray that I have to get mine over the maf & TB. The only time you would new couplers is if you had a really large maf/tb other than that they will stretch.

Yeah? Is that safe? I was thinking I could heat the rubber in hot water like I did with the Bullitt pedals.

Alright. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has had this problem. Going to do it tomorrow, I'll let you know how I make out.

I put a BBK on my 97 gt and it had 2 different size of rubber ... One for the maf and the other one for the throttle body . Make sure you try to put the right one .

And I would go for water too ;-)

I put the coupler parts in boiling water and then went on like a piece of cake! Thanks all for your help.
