Good Price for a low mile 98' Cobra Vert?

I really shouldnt be in the market for this car but I spotted a laser red 98' Cobra drop top with black top and leather the car looks as good as my 03' as far as condition goes. It has 52,000 mi 363 rear gears, quick throw shifter; K&N air induction system, single pulley, tinted glass, CD changer with sound system, lighted roll bar, full exaust system . Never been in an accident. Perfect condition and was garaged all year long.

One of the cool aspects of the car is that it is extreamly rare its only 1 of 84 Laser Red Cobra Convertibles made in 98'

My question is, is the $14,000 asking price the cars fair value or is it a steal? I love the car but i'm only looking to buy if its a really good deal because as it is i already have 2 stangs and am looking atthis as a future collectible like my 03' i'm pretty sure the 97' GT will never be worth much maybe the rare color might help but i doubt it...........anyways what do you guys think is a fair price for a low mile mint 98' Cobra Vert

14K would be good for MINT. Anything less than mint would be around 11-12K I think.

i dont have the production numbers, but im pretty sure they prob made more than 98 laser red verts. red was the most popular color on cobras i paid 12k for my coupe and it had 30k on it.

I thinking most red 98' Cobras were Rio Red or maybe it was its color combo of Laser Red/ Black Top and Leather....Most 98' Red Cobras i have seen are Rio Red with tan or white top i personally like the black top which is kinda rare on 94-98 verts from what i have seen. either way im gonna hold off or try to low ball him to the 11-12k range see if he bites if not i can hold off i wasnt really in the market for the car but it caught my eye.

I think you offered him a great price. Aftermarket stuff doesn't mean jack when re-selling a car, esp if he would have traded it.

He'll bite eventually

Post pics when you get it, I love the body style of those cobras

Yeah, from what I heard, aftermarket stuff may de-value the car- that is unless the parts he replaced are included.

aftermarket parts dont mean anything as far as book value. and you never get what you put into it. but if you find the right buyer you can get what you want.

i havent seen any rio red cobras in a while. might be b/c i have laser red and thats all i seem to see now . i wanted bright atlantic blue but couldnt find the right one.

any updates on the purchase?????????????

No progress yet, he said he needs to get rid of it soon though. I gotta be honest I don't see to many people trying to buy a cobra drop top in the middle of winter. I'm gonna stay firm with my offer and he should turn soon.

Is this an addition to the stable or is one car saying goodbye?

An addition for now, though the GT is a sled i've owned it since I was 17 years old so I admit I do have a silly attachment to it. If I get the 98' Maybe i'll realize that it is foolish to keep all three and dump off the 97'. So far i'm still playing the waiting game if he wants to sell at my offer

We, in California, don't really take winter into account when buying a car.

Good luck. I would drop my 94 GT in a split second for a Cobra. Then again, I haven't driven it enough to be too attached.

Nothing yet, the guy who i am buying from is very indecisive. First he agrees to $11,500 then changes his mind. Next he needs a week or two to think about it........ I like the car but not enough to give him more than $12,000. He says he needs to sell the car soon but he is taking his sweet time making a decision. I live in New England and selling a sports car at this time or year in near impossible. If he thinks someone else may be interested in the car they would have called him by now. He should either bite the bullet and sell to me or just put the thing on ebay! But, if I do get the car i'll send you guys some pics. I have to admit it is the cleanest 96-98 Cobra I have seen in a long time, even the top is in perfect condition.

The guy with the 98' Cobra is being a pain in the butt (starting to think about keeping the car). I found another car and I am considering purchasing this instead what do you guys think a red 94' Cobra Coupe with 73k mi bone stock in very good condition. I figure this is one of the rarest Cobras (5.0 Cobra numbers are the lowest of the breed) while not as fast or attractive as the 98' it seems hard to pass up since the price is only $7000. Should I try to wait it out on the 98'? Or should I pull the trigger on the 94' either way neither car seems to be going anywhere any time soon so I have time to make a well thought verdict.

Well the deal is off . After waiting around for weeks the seller finally decided that he has decided not to sell the car. It kinda ticks me off that someone put a car up for sale jerked me around for months and then decides he doesn't wanna sell! So i'm gonna put my money elsewhere. I have spotted a 93 Cobra it's on ebay and I have a limit I am willing to spend I've seen the car in person and can pick it up with just a 45min drive wish me luck on winning the auction guys..............

That's too bad. It's a nice car.
I just don't like the '93s anywhere near as much.
IMO the 98 was a fair deal, the 93 is not (as I said).
But I am a bargain shopper anyway.
