Good dealer story!

Well, the other day I came within a hair of selling my Stang. Was going to give it up to buy a 07 WRX for the winter conditions. Had everything squared away but the dealer at Becker was the one who convinced me not to do it.

He looked me in the eye and said "Are you really going to be happy to give up your Mustang?" I looked out the window at the Stang and looked back at him. Thought about it for a moment and just said "No, I don't think I would be."

He wasn't upset at all. He just said, "I think you need to just hang on to it and come back when you're ready."

I gotta hand it to the guy. He thought more about me than the deal. And when the time is right that I can get a winter car and keep the Mustang, he is who I will go to for sure.

When I was selling, I talked with a couple who were starting a family and what they wanted was an SUV. I told them that with the budget they had presented, the best thing for them was a Taurus wagon, not an SUV. I showed them the wagon and the Explorer. They said they would have to think about it and try out all the SUVs everywhere. I said thank you and come again.
They came back the next week and bought the wagon.
I would have gotten a bonus for the Explorer.

Just like in every profession, there are guys that know how to do their jobs and do right by the customer and there are guys that ruin it for everyone else.

I can honestly say there are at least a handful of car salesmen on this site that I wouldn't even think twice about working with, because I KNOW they aren't going to rake me over the coals.

Good to hear a positive story!

Horror story time!

Went to a dodge place to get a trunk, my wife tried to drive it, and even with the seat push all the way up she couldn't reach the pedals. He still kept trying to convince me I should get the truck even though she couldn't drive it. We were trying to get a Ram, was selling it for 16,500, instead I went to Ford and got an F-150 for 2,000 more and my wife was able to drive it. The dodge guy kept asking me if I was going to let my wife talk me out of my truck. I told him she isn't, but he just did, then we left.

The guy at Ford though, he was good. I've actually gotten him 2 other sales since I bought my truck (which I don't have anymore).

This particualr salesman sold my father his Forester also. And no they are not based on commission. Becker is pretty much a wholesale dealer. They sell well below invoice all the time and are always very fair. They are number 1 in the Mid-Atlantic region and I believe in the top 5 in the nation and for good reason!
