Hey Evil, I finally installed my Steeda adjustable rear sway bar. Wow the difference it made.

Nothing much going on, but I snapped a quick photo this morning. Don't ask my why . . . no rhyme or reason.

Looks like I have my first leak with the Mach . . . after almost 10 years. Oil leak at the filter but very small. Changed filter/oil hoping the issue was with the FRPP filter and not the oil adaptor. No leaks on the two screws securing the adaptor. I spent most of my time inspecting the two screws and not the face where the filter attaches. I have the filter hand tight and have never had issues in the past, but the leak is coming right at the bottom of the filter and then traveling along the length of the filter. I suppose I could use a coolant flush anyway before Charlotte.

To be continued . . .

So this thing has a sandwich type oil cooler between the filter and the block?

I'm not following what the two screws are?

The filter "block" has the oil adaptor connected to it and the two screws hold the adaptor which has a coolant passage. (I think I'm explaining it right but I'm having a "typical" Friday night so I may not be explaining it properly.)

Yeah I'm lost
Or I simply don't know what you're talking about
I've changed the oil on 3 generations of Mustangs and I don't follow
The only screws I have ever seen would be the screws that tighten the screw clamps on the coolant hoses that would attach to an oil to water cooler that goes between the filter and the block

Never mind

You've got an oil to air cooler and it has two outlets on the adapter that go in and put to the air cooler probably. And the screws are for the screw clamps on that adapter?

I know I hadn't left the oldest filter's gasket on because I remember visually inspecting the surface since it was the first time I had changed oil on a 4.6.
That (leaky) filter had to have had two gaskets on it from Motorcraft.

Interesting and thanks. Though, it probably wouldn't be my luck if it was something that simple. I'll probably get under the car sometime this weekend for another look . . .

I'm at ~47k. Yeah, hopefully your leak is simple as stated here in the last couple posts. I was curious because I didn't think you had a bunch of miles on the Mach.

Fingers crossed, but looks like it was the previous filter that was the issue. And thanks Nick!
