I've been looking at bumper inserts for my Performance Red 2000 GT. Mustangtuning.com has different types:

Shiny Black
Matte(flat) Black
Black Reflective

Do any of y'all have any experience on whether the inserts fall right off etc. I'm considering Matte Black, because at "this point" I'm looking at buying a 1999 anniversary hood stripe to match later down the road.

Is there one that y'all prefer. I don't wanna go Stainless Steel.....or Stainless Steel Vinyl. I've seen it a couple times.......didn't appeal to me. Looks better on a dark car.

I know I know, it's bumper inserts.....who cares, but sometimes the little things matter.

[attachmentid=32089]I went with black inserts, I think they made a difference and I like the contrast between the red and black.

Yea, because there's too much red right now. I need some black, just not sure if I want flat or shiny black.

I love that combo on your ride though.

Nothing looks better than stainless steel. I had them on my black 99, and I have them on my 03. When people are behind you at night, their headlights will light them up really nice.

Had a black V6 (2000) and another black GT (2003) and the chrome inserts are beautiful. I currently have another 03 GT, however this one is a dark mettalic red (don't know the official color name) and I don't think this one will get inserts cuz I'm planning on black racing stripes. But the black ones look good on any dark color IMHO

The car color is probably Redfire.

You mean the chrome ones on any dark car look good, correct?

Not necessarily, I think black looks good on the "redfire", the dark blue, green, white and silver, but the chrome is good for the black.

Sorry...I wasn't clear....I was asking if your car color was redfire because it was a dark red built in 03, and you didn't know the official name.

My color is "Performance Red."

The SS's are beginning to grow on me, but flat black is the current front runner. Of course......the flat black stickers are like $10 bucks...if I don't like em I can switch em later.

I've got an 03 redfire and I used some red 3D lettering I got from Classic Design Concepts. I really like the way it looks, it's like transparent red over a chrome background...from some angles it's more red then from others it matches the redfire paint more closely.

Jay_wx 2 questions:

What wax/cleaning elements?

Where did you get that black Roush-like sticker on the bumper. I've thought about that route also.

I started off using a clay bar and Meguiar's Gold Class, it's been waxed five times with that then I switched over to NXT...that stuff is odd though, it kind of looks splotchy after it's applied and you have to really buff it to remove the splotchy areas.

The decal came from Ebay, around 10 bucks or so. I was never really happy with the rear of the 99-04 Mustangs, they have too much painted area and not enough detail. I wanted some way to break up all that color and scale it down a bit so I figured I'd try the black insert. I'm pleased with it, however you just have to make sure you don't get any wax on the decal as it's a flat black and wax will leave a shiny spot on it.

I should get one of those bumper inserts. I gotta find the way to fix damaged stripe. Maybe I should take entire thing off.
