Broken key....

Ok...long story short one of the keys on the Mach1 got bent & subsequently it broke.
The transponder is fine though.

Bought a new key but the instructions require both keys TURNING in the ignition
to program the transponder.

Am I screwed?

Dont really want to get sexually assaulted by a dealership....

yep, unfortunately you are. Once you have two keys, you can program as many as you want, but with only one, they have to do the second key.

When I got my car it only came with one key/chipped , and one fob. I got a second key made and programmed at a hardware store an bought another fob and now have to complete sets unless it changed from 96

I'm almost certain it did. We bought my sister an 04, it only came with one key, and we had to have a dealership program the other.

My '04 only came with one key and I got ACE Hardware to make a copy of it. About half a year later the chip in the replacement went bad and wouldn't crank the car. I took it back and they replaced it for free.

Skylar does your key match the original? As in is it a ford key or the kind ace has? Maybe that is why we could do it and he can't.

Op did you buy a ford key?

I have a 2013 GT, and had a hardware store make a third key. Cost about $75, and is just a key with a chip, no buttons like the original, but works fine. Took them about three minutes to do using ONE of my original keys.

Can't you just hold the broken keys transponder next to the new key to be used like the second key? Its all wireless transmitting, so it doesn't know the metal end in the ignition is not attach to that transponder.

Or even have a door key made an use the old transponder chip to " make" another key.
