Real quick. How long you think it would take for a performance shop to change out Oil, Differential Fluid, Transmission Fluid, Spark Plugs and Air/Fuel Filter? 4 hours? This is of course having a car on a lift.

Sorry for the unique question.

on your 2002? For a performance shop, i'd say 2 hours tops. I know most oil change places could have everything minus the spark plugs done in an hour. Plugs are easy if you have done them before. I think last time I changed plugs on a GT it took about 30min.

Ok. Wanted to get some outside opinions because I just had this done and had the folloing put into it:

Motor:
AMOIL 5W30 XL7500,

Transmission:
AMSOIL ATF

Diff:
Royal Purple MAX Gear 85W140

Coolant additive:
Redline Water Wetter

Long Lasting Performance Plugs, forgot brand. And of course the filters.

Total bill was $531. Labor was like $361. I think they charge $90/hr for labor. Need to check to make sure. Just thought that was just a little high, maybe not?

Seems high to me. The shop I'd use wouldn't come anywhere close to charging that amount.

Yeah that seems unusually high. Check with a good reputable oil change place. If you bring them the fluids and filters you want, i bet they can seriously beat that price on the labor.

Well, unfortunately I have already done it. That is why I was asking to get some second opinions. Good place and great people but real high on prices. Same place that cant figure out my clutch problem. I about hit the floor when he gave me the sum total on the fluids and stuff. I was expecting like $300 to $400 at most.

Oh well....may need to look for a new shop.

Actually had my invoice here with me. $361.00 in labor and according to my dad, who has a WS6 they have been working on for a good time now, says they charge $60/hr for labor. If you do the math it means it took the mechanic guy 6hrs to do fluid, spark plugs, and air/fuel filter change.

I am going up there Saturday to discuss wheels/tires and my clutch problem and gonna ask him about this. If it is $60/hr and it took him 6 hrs to do, holy $h*t Should have went to Express Oil Change.

Yeah, thats crazy. I'd find someplace new myself.

I called the shop I use to change my oil (who does it for $15) and throw my Nittos on a few weeks back ($60 for all four installed/balanaced, etc.) and they said to do all of the fluids, it'd take them at the most an hour.

I'm starting to think they see you as an open wallet. Just my two cents.

Put it like this to. For all the stuff and including tax it was $172.89...the rest was labor. Gonna call them right now, cant wait till Saturday.

Thats about ~$76 worth of products based on prices you would be likely to pay at retail.

For:

AMSOIL 5w30: 6q x $6
AMSOIL Filter: $11.99
AMS ATF: $7.99
Royal Purple Diff. Fluid: $9
Redline Water Wetter: $7.99

Of course, you'd have to pay shipping and/or tax depending on where you bought from, but that's a $100 difference. Good luck calling them back, though I tend to think they'll be a little less then thrilled about you wanting to discuss it.

Ask how much they charge per hour before they do any work, if they say more than 50/60, just leave. If they say more than 30/40, try to talk them down.
