275-35-18 Tire rub?

I'm getting ready to buy new wheels and tires. Tire store guy told me the 275's will rub on the front. I've seen mixed messages online. Any TMS'ers have trouble with it?

I'm lowered probably 1.25'-1.5".

Are you planning a staggered setup or 275/35s all the way around? I've read mixed messages as well, but there are quite a few Mach owners stating they run 275/35/18s up front without issue.

Since it's going to be my daily driver for a while longer, I'll probably got 275's all around. Once it's off daily duty, I'll put 10.5's out back. Seems like the main problem happens on full lock turns, which only happens at low speed, so any rubbing shouldn't be too terrible?

I suppose I could put a different size tire on the wheel.

Gotcha! I've run a 265/35/18 before with no problem, but since BBS RKs are 8.5 wide on the front I now run 245/40/18.

Hey,

It will be close to say the least. It will all depend on the wheel that you are putting on the car.

If it is one of our wheels, we guarantee a 275/35/18 will fit with no rubbing, at all four corners, even with up to a 2.1 inch drop. However, we have a favorable offset on our wheels to ensure we can fit this size tire. Our 18x9 wheel has a 24mm offset, so if you have something else in mind, as long it is this offset or close to it, it should work.

I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions feel free to get in touch with myself or our customer service team. Good luck!

My Cobra 17x9s and 275s rubbed on my V6, ever so slightly, but gouged the inner rim of the wheel. This was also on full-lock turns. You need to get a set of Cobra steering stops to prevent this, IIRC. When my local Big-O mounted up my wheels and tires, they swapped the steering stops for me for no charge. Idk how accurate this is, but after that my wheels didn't rub anymore. I had no issues with the tire rubbing though.

I've also heard about the steering stops. Any idea where to get a set?

Dan, Any word on getting the Saleen black chrome wheels back in? I'd really like a silver, but not too many places have them.

265's will fit the same wheel, so maybe I should just get those?

Like I said, the tires didn't rub. It was the inner lip of the wheels. Of course this depends on the back-spacing/offset of the wheel too. I think you could swap to the Cobra LCAs and be fine. Check out mpsautosalvage.com and hit them up, I'm sure they could get you everything you need off a wrecked Termie.

Hey,

Right now the best estimate for the 18x9s appears to be in early April. The 18x10 however, looks to be the end of May at this point. If you do hold out, I know you won't be disappointed. They will look awesome.

I hope this helps

I was hoping to have the new wheels by the 50th in April.
