All started by a cold day during winter (You still have to keep busy when your stang is sleeping!) Santa came with a few things.

The first boot

Bought a new dash kit to not mess up the original one

Removing parts from the screen

Perfect, miracle !

Hard stuff start here

Many works

With primer we can see that what look likes perfect in pink is far from perfect when painted in black

Many weeks later after some , sanding, painting, omg it's ugly, sanding, sanding, painting....

It's not perfect but i'm pretty happy

The computer in is aluminium frame with the mother board on custom shock, same for hard drive.
On left we can see, the cordless keyboard/mouse module, the gps, the wifi

Here it goes every thing working
http://www.enitalp.com/carpc/pc.wmv

The amp will be in my car by saturday, as well as the computer.

Still waiting for the postman to bring me my ODB2 module, but it will look likes that.

Waiting also for my FM RDS stuff.

Here are the parts and the price:
Intelligent power supply 160W 95$US
GPS 90$US
512Mo low profile 148$US
7" touch screen 255$US
Mother board with 1ghz cpu 150$US
20Go Harddrive 100$US
Software and ODB2 cable 150$US
Keyboard, mouse, wifi, already got it.
Total 988$US. + amp and service.

i really like the idea of you molding the screen with the dash,, but didn't you cover the other buttons openings such as volume etc....

Great start, I need to get working on implementing my X-Cal2 into my CarPC. It just hasn't been a priority to me yet. Looking forward to your completed work.

Thanks. I remove all the unused button. I only keep the infrared window to be able to change source for my future back camera.

Saturday it will be "finish" for the moment. Still need some little modifications on skin, just got the fla from the menu to remove on page of button.

For ODB2 pcmscan seems to integrate well with RR. It's the best solution i've seen.

Question, how do you play a CD? I didn't see a CD/DVD tray... do you connect wireless with your home computer and just copy everything from there? Or did I totally miss where the CD/DVD is at?

Let us know... this is really cool, I've been wanting to do this for a while..

Actually i do not have any cd or dvd, don't think there is enough room in the dash for it. Peharps i will had a usb one in center or in passenger side in those boxes.
The computer have wifi so i can connect to my house to tranfert what i want. The computer shut down after 20 mins when the car is off, enough time to do some transfer.

Looks great, makes me wish I did that over the easy in DD TV route. I do have a question about the OBD II. I assume its just a basic scanner thatreads off of the diagnostics ports and can read all the sensors and such. What I would like to know is if in your searches you have found one that has a way of just plugging in and then delivering the out put to a set of AV cables or something similar. I really like the idea of reading the factory sensors I dont have a computer in car though

Is it iPod compatible? I've seen some that pic up a screen that even resembles the iPod.

It's a computer, so if your iPod is PC compatible (and not just Apple compatible), yes, it will work with that PC, if it's only Apple compatible, then it will erase ALL your songs from the iPod

For ODB2 i bought the module + cable + software at palmer performance, it's the pcmscan complete kit.

http://www.palmerperformance.com/

No ipod in my setup, and yes as it's a pc it could handle it.

But i don't see the point of having an ipod with a pc in car with a 120go hardrive with all the mp3 of the universe on it
