It's obviously a Ford unit, but how would you wire it in?

Only 5 gears on the stick, so it's apparently not a GT500.

Looks to be the DVD Nav system that will be late-availability for the '07 model.

It's in an '05 V6 with NO shaker system present (looking at the door panels) I have a feeling it's a direct swap for the regular CD player, but not the shaker. I'd like to try it anyway, but I don't have enough dough laying around right now to find out.

Kevin should be able to give us more info on this !!!

Direct swap ?
- with which version (shaker regular, 500, 1000 etc)

Features (MP3, # of CD, dvd etc,)

What's needed to have the Nav system operational ?

Ford P/N and availability ?

Price ?

If you go to the Ford website and build a 500, you'll see this unit.

It's a DVD unit, 6 disc changer, I'd guess it matches the shaker specs for mp3 etc. Shows as a $2000 *option* so I'd imagine it's fairly pricey as a replacement part.

Supposedly we are getting the same unit as the Expeditions, which is not as nice as this screen. This screen from the Ford 500, has a touch screen and a larger screen, and looks much cleaner. I have the shaker 500, and as I'm sticking with as clean of an interior as possible, I am getting that navigation system

Yeah mp3car is the bible.

Software for me (warningslo got pretty the same combo):
OS : Windows XP
FrontEnd : RoadRunner
Skin : MC2 customized.
GPS : Iguidance
MP3: winamp 1.95
Video : i use the internal video player of RR instead of MPC, get better result and no crash.
ODB2 : PCMScan.

Next step i will put my own Front End, RR is too slow for my taste.

here is my odb2 screen

and my first test video

Lightbulb

It can be done, I know how. It's not a direct swap plug 'n' play, the Nav headunit must be modified to work with your car's system. However, it's all programming, no splicing at all. All the plugs will work from your factory system.

All you need to do is buy the Nav system from either a Freestyle or 500 (or any Ford that's double din, the Freestyle/500 look the nicest). If you want a shiny metal looking one, get the Lincoln one. You can get these for a decent price from www.radiosandmore.com. http://www.radiosandmore.com/prod_de...=6F9T-18K931-A

$1375 for the nav unit
~$50 for the antenna
~$275 for the maps
Owners manual you can get on PDF I'm sure

Programming is an extra charge too, very reasonable.

I am planning on doing this mod, I just need to do my full suspension first.
