What Else Do I Need WIth GPS/Nav?

Im buying the Pioneer AVIC-D3 GPS/DVD system and I wanted to if I need to rewire my car?

I was at circuitcity today and the guy there told me that these factory upgraded sound systems dont work with aftermarket head units. He said I may need to rewire the car so the speakers could work since the headunits dont produce power. Something about stock amplifiers not working with aftermarket headinuts. Im no system buff so please any help GREATLY appreciated.

Would I be fine with just buying the gps system and it working all my speakers fine or is that cirtuitcity guy right and I need new wiring to work everything. Thanks

And you just bassically did a swap no problems? Now my question after reading around is whether or not Circuitcity will/can install these voltage regulators to eliminate any "pop" sound from the door subs.

I installed an Alpine IVA-W205 in place of a Shaker 500. Using a wiring harness from Crutchfield.com I was able to do this without issue and the sound quality in my car is significantly better than it ever was!!

Sounds to me that the guy at Circuit City was trying to up-sell you...

Im nto sure. He was like the old Mach systems needed additional wiring to work. Anyways, Im not buying till tomorrow. I had to wait till I talked with the installer.

Did you by chance install a Voltage Regulator?

Yes... I opted to install one rather than try it without and then retrofiit it into the wiring harness. The process was pretty simple for me as I followed TacoBill's awesome instructions!!!

The story about having to rewire if you have a mach system is a bunch of bull. I have a AVIC-Z1 in my 02 that came with the Mach 460 and I am using the factory amps and a metra harness adapter. I did replace my speakers, just because one of them was going out.
