I was looking to add some gauges to my car. found a new pillar mount at speed of sound.

It holds 2 gauges, but what 2 gauges do I choose? Which did you choose??

I am looking at adding a fuel/air ration off the O2 sensor...should not be too hard to hook up?or is it?

and adding a oil temp gauge? what range does the oil need to be?

100- 250 or 140 - 300?

Or what others should I consider?

Thanks

Boost on top, and a Pro-Comp on the bottom, for easy access. fuel & oil can go on the dash or add a third for Water on the dash using the CDC vs Saleen style. You have the IUP so I'd go with the Cobalt Gauges vs the Ultra-Lite's that I'm using.

Are you running some sort of bost? Why do you have a boost gauge?

I dont have the IUP so I'm toying with the idea of an oil pressure, voltmeter, and a dpic (for fun).

My Auto Meter Cobalt gauges shipped today. I got three to mount in the MRT Dash-Mount Gauge Pod and SVP Unlimited is going to place two gauges between the center A/C vents for me.

I went with the cobalt gauges too. Boost, Fuel Press, and Air/Fuel in a pillar mount.

I guess people are getting boost gauges because they plan on blowers or a turbo in the future?

Neways. I think the original poster's question was somewhat lost, and I would like to know the answer too. What guages did you get and why? More to do with the funcitonality and reasoning behind needing to monitor those specific factors.

Autometer Cobalts boost/Vacumm, and fuel pressure. Those have arrived.

The CDC Gauge Pod is on the way along with the Innovate Motorsport standalone Wideband A/F gauge kit for tuning.

Although no first hand experience, as yet, on my 05. I have found that on my 95 and 99 that the factory gauges were no more than dressed up idiot lights. Soooo, if you plan on ever doing anything but comute to work with your stang, a quality set of gauges will allow you to actually monitor your Stang before it goes Bang.

those with the CDC gauge pod, how did you like it? How did you mount it ( 2 way tape or other). I am not looking to add a boost gauge. really looking at the A/F ratio, oil temp and trans temp (will it work on a manual?). The A/F says it hooks to the O2 sensor....does it bolt to the location on the exhaust pipe? or how did you mount it.

ding ding ding ding we have a winner! That's the exact reason I put in Autometer coolant temp and oil pressure gauges. You want gauges that are dynamic with the engine and have real numbers on them, not some inulting "N O R M A L" for coolant temp and "L----------H" for oil pressure. My factory coolant temp "gauge" is still connected, but I completely disabled the factory joke of an oil pressure "gauge" by grounding the wire and keeping the computer happy

I am going with an Autometer Cobalt air/fuel, and water temp ( since I just bought Ian's EH2O pump ). And using the Speed of Sound guage pod with the Raptor Claw and a Raptor shift light.

I wish CDC gauge pod would be textured like the dash. I am concerned that the pillar mount looks too rice? Does anyone else feel this way?

I installed a CDC Gauge Pod and included Autometer Cobalt Electric oil pressure, fuel pressure and water temp. gauges for the exact same reasons both Dave's (MTAS & FLAstangx3) already stated. I kept all factory gauges funtional as well. The factory gauges and the Autometer gauges function independently of each other and work prefectly. I am not planning on adding any type of power adder (Supercharger/blower) in the near future. I already have a Zex Nitrous kit but am still debating if installing is a good decision on my wife's grocery getter.

I installed the Autometer "Nexus" line of gauges and I love them... They are LED back lite and have 7 different color options you can scroll through via a remote. The colors match up well with the Mycolor settings. You can run them on a demo mode were they go through all the colors and ranges which is good for car shows etc. You can set limit's on each gauge via the remote, which when they are reached the whole gauge turns a bright red to alert you to conditions. They also can data log runs and you can playback your condition's to analyze runs.

I run the same ones and they are great!..love the matching colors with the MYColor feature.
