Weird Q for those with stock shaker 500

So, after my MTX amp blew I finally got around to putting the stock subs and amps back in, just to have some bass while I figure out my next move. Sound is only coming from one side, but the weird thing is it stays there no matter where I set the balance and fader controls. Is this normal? I seem to recall if you balanced all the way right or left, one of the subs would drop out as it should, but now on mine the one working one keeps playing.

Sorry this isn't about helping me do something cool and new, just about helping me fix something stupid I did.

I went out and checked mine and it seems as if both subs work no matter where I set the balance. Sorry not much help.

I never had the shaker 500 or the stock subs, and infact pulled out the factory HU the same week I got the car, but if I remember correctly isnt the stock set up crossed over at the amp? And arent both subs placed on the same side of the car? I wouldnt imagine the balance would affect the subs. Here's a question for you that might help answer it.. does the fade affect the subs? If it does then I would expect the balance to as well.. unless with the sub's placement on the same side of the car the L/R balance wouldnt affect it. Id generally expect the balance to act the same way as the fade.

Thanks for the help, guys. I guess it makes sense since they really are driving sub-bass frequencies, the balance and fader shouldn't affect them. I was worried something else was wrong. Now I have to figure out why only one works. Hoping I cut a wire by mistake instead of frying an amp.

Anyone feel like parting with an unused stock amp? Although I could probably get the dealership to do it.

thanks again! whew!

Make sure you have BOTH of the factory remote wires hooked back up. There is separate turn-on leads in the harness for each amp, unfortunately, I do not know which is which, so I hooked up all 3 (even the one for the 1000, which I don't have). Other than that, check the outputs on the amps- one may have a jacked harness or something.

Good call -- turns out I had ONE ofhe voice coils on one speaker wired backwards, so they cancelled each others' motion.

For future reference, where's the 1000 harness? could come in handy

Dunno- the harness is in the rear of my car, but I cannot trace it to anywhere in the front. Would've been nice to use.

Which one(s) are the factory remotes anyway? Never did figure that out, I just tapped the fuse panel.

Somebody on here did use that s1000 harness for a trunk sub. I'm hoping mine has that in place too but i have yet to find it.
