AAAAARGH! I was going to pull the billet ***** out of my '05 to put in my '07. This is crazy! Ford took one step forward with the new stereo peripheral jack in the glove box, and two steps back with this!

So does that little "peace sign" thing move? If so, we can deduce that the **** moves that part in order for the car to know in what position the dial is in. Should be easy enough for MGW (and other aftermarket venders) to modify A/C ***** to turn the peace sign.

Any updates Red? Either from your progress, or your communication with MGW.

I know I'm posting a lot in this thread, but these interior mods mean a lot to me. The billet A/C ***** really set the interior apart, and without them, the interior is pretty "blah".

I hope a fix is either in the pipelines or even already done. There has *got* to be a way around this. I know there is...we just have to find it...

I have heated seats in my 07, so not possible. If I didn't have the heated seats, that would cross my mind.

I hate to keep bumping this back to the top, but with over 1,000 views, I think this must be pretty important to any 07 owner/soon to be owner who wanted to use MGW dress up parts. I know its very important to me.

So with that being said....any new info?

The only reason I can think that Ford did this is that they went to an electronic control vs a manual control that the 05/06's had to save money

Sorry I've been so slow on the update..but this is what I can tell you.

1. The peace sign does not move. The **** snaps into the outer ring. I've not been able to take the control head apart as I don't have a allen head wrench small enough.

2. The 05/06 head units are not interchangable into the 07's. The connector is much different.

3. I haven't heard anything back from MGW, except for "This Sucks"

I think the above emoticons about sum up my feelings on the matter. Each new update makes it look more and more like us 07+ owners are screwed when it comes to billet AC *****.

I'm still holding out hope that someone, somewhere will come up with a fix. There has *GOT* to be a way. How do the stock ***** register which position they are in?

Back to the top you go!

Maybe this should get a sticky for a bit. This is a big deal to all current or potential 07 Mustang owners who have thought about spicing up their interior with billet A/C *****.

Solution is on the way guys - OEM head unit arrived this morning, goes off to the machine shop this afternoon for development of the new parts. Give us probably a few weeks to get it done and into production. I'll give you updates as I have them.

Wow.. Taking apart the 07 head unit right now... this appears to be a cost saving measure, as they were able to eliminate the metal shafts and D-rings from production, not a "stick it to the aftermarket" move.

All I can say right now by looking is that the 07-up ***** are going to be more expensive to produce - these are not going to be made from leftover aluminum sitting around, you're going to need to order custom rods, and maybe even make it out of more than one piece per ****...

Still - where there is a will, there's a way.

** On edit **
The replacement will be one piece, although machining tolerances will be critical for proper fit. (read more $$) Also, the disassembly of the head unit takes about an hour, and this is a one-way modification - I broke the ***** during removal, and I was being careful. So anyone with an 07 that wants billet ***** - wait until you have ours in hand before tearing apart your head unit!!

On Double Edit **

Who decided that a T8 bit was the right size to use to assemble this thing? Lucky I had this tiny precision set with a T8 in it, as all the normal 1/4" sets only go down to T10 bits...

This is really BS!!!

Why in gods name are they doing this?

Unless there is a linebreaking technical revolution in doing that but I really doubt that.

It sucks for the peops who ordered a 07 model
