Warning !!!! Billet A/C Knobs on 07+ Mustangs
Warning !!!! Billet A/C ***** on 07+ Mustangs
Well as some of you may know i'm currently an engineer at AAI. Well it just so happened I was chatting with the climate control engineer and stumbled across this terrible information..........
On 2007 + Mustangs, the climate control ***** are no longer removable. I don't think there will be any way to replace them with the nice aftermarket ones. I've already contacted MGW about it.

WTF!!!
I'll be breaking me off some A/C *****... I paid good money for these A/C *****, and as God as my witness, they *WILL* be put on my car!
Unless, of course, I can get a refund... but I'd rather have the *****. Guess its time to get in contact with MGW and Ford.
I haven't yet seen pictures of the interior for '07 yet. Could the A/C ***** be factory billet?
I wonder why Ford would make the ***** no longer removable.
Is it possible they are still replaceable? The radio **** for the base stereo is not removable, but you can still install an aftermarket **** (though you have to break off the radio ****).

How well I know about the base radio ****. I had to break it on the 05 I used to have, but I did get it installed..
Well they're definitly not factory billet. I don't understand the logic in making this change either.
I'll see if there is a way to pull the unit apart and get them out. My sources tell me it's not possible...but I'll challenge it.

UGH.
So what does this mean? I'm hearing about the radio **** being broken off to accomodate the MGW billet ****. Can the 07 A/C ***** be installed in a similar fasion? Or should we just all sit tight and hope MGW can come up with a fix?
EDIT: How are the 07 ***** held on then? Glue? Tracks? Majik?

They appear to be attached to a circular track. (Just smaller than the diameter of the **** itself)
I've contacted MGW...and I hope they come up with a solution...but it won't be easy. The only fix may be a stick on cover......yuck.

Hmm....brainstorming
The track is slightly smaller than the **** itself. It may be possible to pry it out somehow (screwdriver? ACK!). Then MGW could simply make a **** that slides into the track. That is assuming that no wires or other such detection devices are attached to the rear of the **** to sense its position.
This seriously pisses me off... pardon my French... there has GOT to be a way the ***** to come off. What happens if one of the factory ***** gets damaged and needs replaced? Surely you wouldn't have to replace the whole ****ed A/C unit!
EDIT: Any chance of getting some up close pics?

More thinking out loud...
Can the face plate of the A/C unit be removed? Perhaps the dials can be interchanged that way. Again, I have no idea if any wires or anything is back there. Perhaps the ***** are still on a stem, but just "stuck on" due to that lip...
