Turn Signal Sound

just do what the people of Ohio do, don't use it and just slam on your brakes when you want to let people know you are going to turn.

They do that here in Birmingham too. "I guess they are chanting we don't need no stinkin' turn signal" or " Go ahead, hit me, see if I care."Oscar
I read somewhere, that the turn signals in Mustangs and Foci are now all computer controlled, and don't use the traditional flasher anymore. The turn signal sound you hear in the mustang and focus, are actually re-created through a speaker.

And then they retire to Florida and screw up our roads too! :bang: :bang: :bang:
About the blinker, it bothered me at first too... I don't even notice it now.

Yep, but everybody leaves Ohio. Maybe I'll see in you Florida soon. Or Arizona. Or Siberia, whatever, just gotta get out of this place.

Is it just a thing with Northern Ohio...the wanting to get out feeling? I grew up in KY and I thought Cincinnati up to Dayton was pretty nice.

But you left too.If it is a northern ohio thing, I think a large part of it is the weather, I don't know how much more I can deal with 6 months of everything being so grey it makes you want to slit your wrists just to see color. Sky's grey, snow gets dirty and under the cloudy sky looks grey, roads are grey from salt... CRAP, EVEN MY BLOOD'S GREY!!!

I'm slowly moving south. First it was Toledo, now I am moving this weekend to Maumee, next California! That's a little West too, but nevermind.
Oh yeah, the flasher is electronic. That's why sequentials are so easy to install. I'm sure Ford spent millions of dollars to get that sound right, too bad I don't notice it anymore.
if you have ever heard a real horse walk on a hard surface like concrete it sounds like our turn signals
I like the sound
yes, I think the sound is computer generated
only way to mute it is to find source and cover or muffel it some how

I think you guys just dont like your Stang and are complaining like little old women. No offence on the comment but come oooon.
Driving from work to home today I thought about this thread so I turned the radio off, rolled the windows down, layed off the gas and turned the signal on. It was normal just like any other car I have owned. When I got home I got in my wifes 2001 Explore and it was a little louder than mine.
However, if you guys are serious about how loud the turn signal is I believe you have a defected Stang and I rocommend you take it to your friendly local dealer. Good luck with it and let us know what they say.. :bang:
:bang:
Now, I am begining to wonder if my dealer was right when he said dont believe everything you read on these Mustang websites otherwise you will go insane and be taking your car to the dealer every week for something different. You become paranoid with every little thing. I think he may be right.

I too was soooo annoyed by this obnoxious blinker flaw... It seems to happen EVERY time I turn left OR right...
The only fix that I have found is to just go straight (fyi. this fix isn't perfect as I'm still trying to resolve a few minor details such as how to get off the street on which I live).
WHY FORD???? OHHHHH WHY MUST WE BE SOO CURSED!!!!
Actually I love the retro sound!! Fits with the retro body if ya ask me... :headbang:

The above is 100% correct, on both the 05 Mustang and Focus (since 02 I think) the blinker is 100% solid state and has no moveing parts like a triditional flasher or soilnoid. Its a small speaker on a PCB somewhere in the dash so in theory one could take apart the dash and disable the offending noise maker.
I for one found it annoying as I signaled to leave the dealership, then I stepped on the gas and have never noticed the blinker noise again

I find I've been slowly losing my hearing due to the loudness. What was Ford thinking??? I've now hung a pair of hearing protection ear muffs off my rear view mirror and slap them on before I make a turn.
"Turn Signal"!!! I don't need NO STINKIN Turn Signal!!!
In Texas the other cars on the road create a great Slolam course for the '05. So as you are trying to get the best time on the slolam course, turn signals can just confuse the other gates on the road.
