Trip Tunes Advanced Advice
Trip Tunes Advanced Advice
Hi there, I need some advice on getting the Trip Tunes advance option on my 08 GT.
I was wondering if you guys think it's worth the cost. At $257 (X-plan) it seems kind of a costly option. Do you guys think it's worth it?
And for those of you who have the Trip Tunes already in your Mustang. Does it work well?
I'll be getting a Shaker 500 in my new 08 GT, but I'm concerned that later on I'll wished I'd ordered the Trip Tunes with it?
What do you guys think?

Personally, for that price, I definitely don't think its worth it. You already have a line-in plug, but you just won't be able to work the iPod from the headunit. Is it worth the price of another iPod to leave it plugged in and stored in the console. I would just get a charger, plug it in the center console, and use the line-in. I use an FM modulator and works pretty good. Charges and plays. I keep the iPod in the console when I'm listening. When I change songs at a stop light, I'll get it out. Save the $257 for mods!
Thanks, I came to the same conclusion myself yesterday after I learned where the line in plug is located. I don't have one in my 05 Mustang.
One other question. Is the sound quality pretty good with your MP3 Player playing through the line in connector?

i'm not really sure what the trip tunes is, but i'm assuming that lets you control an ipod through the stereo head unit? As far as a line in connector, that is definitely the best sound quality you're going to get from your ipod, far superior to FM modulation. I have a 07 with a line-in in the center console, I bought a Harman Kardon Drive + Play from Amazon for $70. It controls/charges the ipod while the ipod is safely tucked away.

I mounted the screen on the dash between the A/C vents, and the control **** by the gear shift. This way I can view the Ipod info at eye-level, and choose a song all without taking my eyes off the road. A great investment for only $70. I'll post pics soon.

Well, Trip Tunes is a $256 Ford Factory cable to connect your Ipod to your Shaker 500. You can control your I-pod right from the head of the Shaker 500. But, I think it's kind of high, plus I have a MP3 player, but it's not an I-pod.
So for me to get that and a I-pod would be over $500!
Using the Line in plug in the center console is free since I already have a Toshiba Gigabeat MP3 player that I can use. I accept!
I also reripped my CD's at a lower bitrate, 192 instead of whatever I had ripped them at. I was able to fit all the CD's I want to listen to on 5 CD-R's, plus I still have another left over for future expansion......
